When I used 4g63 turbo coil packs I had them set at 3.5ms as well. With my new 1zzfe coil packs, set up in a wasted spark set up, it is set at 3.0ms and probably need to be 2.5ms same E6X, 17lbs, 0.028" gap. LS1 coil packs with built in ignighter I would think should be low as well. Motec recommends 3.5ms @ 13vdc and 3.2ms @ 14vdc.

I use a wheel from diyauto tune that bolts straight onto the 3tgte crank pully which already has 4 bolts on a PCD to locate it.

coupled with a ford AU vr sensor and a mount of the timing cover (have a look at what pope has done with his 3tc very similar), you could use a cherry hall sensor also.
A crank wheel gets you wasted spark and no dizzy.
If you want COP then you will need to also get a cam sensor, take a look at what Turbotoy has done with a cherry hall sensor, running of a cam lobe.

Quick question about the CT20b turbo.
Reason i ask is because my little CT20 has died pretty much and blowing smoke pretty bad now.
I have read online that rebuilding the CT20b is a pain. I would like to know has anyone rebuilt their own CT20b or got a mechanic/shop to do it?
i looked on the bay and found these 2 bits:

I chose the CT20B over the CT26 as I had read good things on toymods of the CT20b being a little bit better in some ways.
Also because the previous owner of my car has supplied me with a manifold for the CT20b.
I dont have to fit the CT20b and it has minimal shaft play but it is a daily driver and i need it reliable, so if a rebuild is required i will do it.
I just dont want to rebuild the CT20b if it's going to cost huge $$$s all up and i should have just got a CT26 instead.
Thoughts?

Hi guys,
Anyone adapted a different (non switch-type) TPS to the standard 3T throttle body? I'm just on the look out for a variable type TPS to tie me over till I can sort out a custom inlet manifold.

I used an aluminum plate and a standard GM style 0-5vdc TPS. Should be able to find one in a junk yard. The problem is getting the stock ecu to use the 0-5vdc signal.

I'll give it a go, went to test fit an RB TPS and it rotates the opposite direction... Actually wanted to fit the whole TB but it's a fair bit of messing around!
And re:ECU, I'm running a MegaSquirt so no worries thereStock ECU is stopping my door from closing - right where it belongs!

what have people made or used as a design for oil return for there 3tgte. ive modified the turbo set up to a high mount and im useing a garrett gt2560r turbo. any help thanks and pics

Hey guys,
I've got a horrid rattle which I think is coming from behind the timing chain cover... I've tried tensioning the timing chain with no luck. I'm sure there's a whole range of possible things for me to check once I pull the cover off, though has anyone got any ideas of parts that are subject to rattles when they fail? Also, might I have over-tensioned the chain, causing it to stretch and therefore rattle no matter how much I tension it?

I remember a few years back when my 3T GTE developed a terrible rattle at start-up. It was caused be a an oil change to a different viscosity. The oil was thinner and would drain out of the chain tensioner overnight.
Dangerous I know, though I haven't yet connected the GT oil pressure gauge in the ta22 so I couldn't tell whether there's been a drop in pressure since the rebuild.
The rattle is only over a certain rpm, and more noticeable when you lift-off the throttle. It's no worse upon a cold start. I did switch to a different viscosity, though it was nice and quiet after that. It developed the rattle around about the same time I put the 440cc injectors in, allowing me to safely (in terms of fuel supply anyway..) wind it up to 7k rpm. My guess was that the higher rpm had stretched the new timing chain.
I'll have to pull the timing cover soon as there are a few oil leaks which need attention, so I'll go over it all then.
I'll try the old screw-driver trick to locate the noise![]()
