Attatched is an image of my alternator im guessing they are the same??

If you look carefully the letters are on the casting around the plug

L - This goes to the warning light wire on your dash (this is the ground for the light)
IG - This is 12v when the ignition is on
S - This goes back to the positive terminal of the battery to sense the voltage its at
B - (not in the pic) is the post on the alt with the thick charge wire to your batt

Looking at that pic, it would seem that my 3tgte has been fitted with a different alt..

I'll stop being so lazy and pull it off to check the letters/markings.

Edit number 2: I used Google to search for the part number on the pulley. Turns out its a Denso item. I don't have the car at my house otherwise I'd go check the markings on it.

I'm only asking so that we can wire it into the loom and drive this sucker!!

looks like the pile of dead alternators on my garage floor. if its got E, N, F on that plug.. it requires an external voltage regulator. could be the original ta22 2t alt maybe? the T, K and R alternators were very similar. there should be a sticker on the side with alternator part number if it's not already polished off. the internal reg 2tgeu/3tgte are prone to failure. not sure if it because it sits under the thermostat and next to hot turbo.. but i seem to go through them. find a ta22 wiring diagram and compare, i think that should get ya going with the wiring side of things

We actually worked it out today that it was an externally regulated Toyota item.. So a quick trip to the wreckers and we may have found a viable candidate for replacement. If we worked it out right, it should be a similar size to the EA Falcon alternators, so it will require a similar amount of modification. If all goes well I'll add it to the EA Falcon tech thread that is already on here!

The mellings M94C rings a bell. Keep in mind that you only need the upper bit that houses the pump shaft and relief valve.

I still used the 3tgte pump shaft, vanes etc with a 3tgte filter and bottom half of the pump body, therfore retailing the additional capacity.

The mellings bottom half did not fit into the 3tgte sump.

I basically went into the local parts store and asked for a 3tc pump

It got mentioned in here that the BRD oil pump has been discontinued.

We might have another option now.
It seems that Kameari is due to release a high volume 2TG oil pump in May of 2011.

Yep, emailed them and they confirmed they are kameari which is 90mm bore. I asked kameari for other bores but they said there is not enough demand

i have couple old HKS headgaskets, 1mm and 2mm with 90mm bore. there is no difference between Kameari gaskets, so they are "same", HKS and Kameari... Kameari maybe they sell rest of HKS gaskets with own brand or manufacturer is the same..

Two little bits of info I have tripped across in my research.

Regarding the use of gear drive for cams:
In the Summit Racing catalog there are a number of gear drive sets for OHV American V8s.
Some of these have warnings not to use the gear drives on motors equipped with knock sensors.
The "why" is not stated, but it isn't hard to guess that these can put noise into the block that interferes with knock detection.

Perhaps this is why Kameari doesn't recommend theirs for 3T-GTE.

Regarding bearings (rod/main):
I learned that there are generally 2 types of bearings available for the 3TC. Some are bimetal, and some are trimetal. (journal side facing of bearing)
Basically, trimetal is preferred in a turbocharged application, as it can carry a higher bearing load than a bimetal bearing.
Confirmed via manufacturer that
King AM series bearings are bimetal, King Tech support recommended against use in a turbocharged application.
Clevite CB1270P and MS1456P are "sintered trimetal" and are "a pretty good bearing," Mahle/Clevite recommended coating them if "you are going to crank up the boost." (Quotes are the words of Mahle/Clevite tech support.) Note that these are not "77" material bearings.

Regarding the water pump

I ordered a GMB (GW T45A) water pump for an EFI 2TG.
This is what I ordered:


It doesn't match what Toyodiy shows this for the OEM 3T-GTE water pump part number, but I'd say it is worth a try.

I haven't actually installed it on the car yet, but I don't foresee any issues.
