How about (depending on the clearance behind the caliper), you get a bit of plate steel and weld two studs onto it then feed those through the caliper holes, through the caliper bracket, and then just put some bolts on the end.

thanks - this will come in handy. especially the mounting, eliminating the overhang by notching the mounts.

is there a reason you did not weld the spacers to the bracket all the way around?
and what did you use to cut the outline of the brackets?

Are there any isses with the caliper brackets being welded or are they meant to be made out of one peice of steel?
I believe he didnt weld the whole way around because of the clearance needed between the caliper and the bracket/spacer.

that would probably make sense....if i had thought about it i might have even picked that up myselfOriginally Posted by LeeRoy

I didnt weld all the wway around because of the clearance issues like Le Roy said.
To cut the mounting plate i used a angle grinder and then linished them. ( basicly use what ever you can!)
LEEROY: I dont see any issues with the spacers being welded... I didnt really have to do it but i wanted them to be one piece so i did it..
I could have made the whole thing from one piece of steel but the amount of work involved in it was huge .... so i did it the way i have![]()

Yeh thats so true, plus i spose you would have wasted a fair amount of metal and the cost to make them would have been higher.Originally Posted by 30psi 4agte

Excellent work here... +rep for sure, and this will most probably come in handy for me in the near future.
Plus great work on the finishing of the product, looks VERY neat.

Did it say in the first post what grade steel you used? I think i went a bit overkill, but i used Bis80 for my front caliper brackets, mind you they are 4-pot AP racing calipers so i imagine there'll be a fair amount of stress on the mount.....
Updated the start of the thread again with a pic off the finished product all bolted up and installed..
