Could you weight those two cranks?
I'm interested to know if there's a difference...
hey, just thought id follow up on this from a while back, seeings as i had the two different cranks sitting next to each other i took some pics, rotated 120* between each picture.
gen 3 gte crank at rear, as you can see, 12 counterweights, earlier crank in front, as you can see, 8 counterweights, not all lined up and pretty. gen 3 has 44mm big end as previously stated by 6boost, and the earlier is 42.
i take no credit for this, just providing some more detailed pics to confirm what 6BOOST has said.
and....a broken piston
surprisingly, the bore isnt too bad, the piston lost its skirt, but the chunk from the top held in there until i took the piston out. not my motor, one i bought, so god knows what happened to it. only bought it for the crank.

Punctuation is the difference between 'I helped my Uncle Jack off his horse' and 'I helped my uncle jack off his horse.'

16.5kg for the early and 19.5 for the later one. measured one digital bathroom scales, so only .5 accurate, the difference can be felt, and it would be kind of expected, the fully counterweighted crank has 4 extra counterweights...

Thanks! Just as I thought...
Must be a year thing as the 7m cranks look the same as those 1G ones , both counterbalanced and non
Dave
It is a year thing mate. I had 2 gen 3 turbo engines that both had non-counterweighted cranks, and therefore had the smaller rods.
are you sure they were gen 3's?

my gen 3, 1ggte from a gx81 has a fully counterweighted crank. I think it was an '88 model.

anyone know the stock stroke of a 1ggte?
HA! Let's dig up a six year old thread for readily available information!
Straight from wikipedia - all G-family engines are marked 1G and share the same "square" 75 mm (2.95 in) bore and stroke.
So 75mm stroke bro.
The 18R-G. The GOOD 2 Litre Tractor motor.
yeah i found it on wikipedia after i posted on here, sorry champ, search results didnt work to well on mobile device. I had been looking for an hour.
I thought posting in an old thread would be better than starting a new one?
