Hi guys,
searched around for ages trying to find some info on 7afe's with not much success.
1.Just trying to find some crank specs. Mainly main journal diameter and big end journal diameter.
2.Also if there is any variation with bottom end from year to year?
3.Are the blocks 7rib, 3rib? do they have Oil squirters?
4. Which year has the best bottom end?
5. Do these blocks bolt straight into an ae86 using the rwd mounts. I know the alternator bracket and water pump pipe have to be modded. But do the mounts even bolt up and the sump clear the x member?
Cheers,
Johnny

Well I have seen those two pages previously and browsed through both.
Neither contain any specs im after nor talk about oil squirters or block construction. Most of the infomation is based on 4age differences.

if you don't know the main journal and big end journal diameters, then you obviously didn't read those documents - it's 48mm for both the mains and big ends.
as far as I am aware, there is no variation in the blocks from year to year, there are some differences in the head design, injector placement and port design.
What I do know is that from your sig you have a Forced induction 4AGE, the stock rods will not stand up to boost, let alone hi rpm NA use.
Bill also has some 7afe info on his starlet engine page, you may find this useful....

No need to get upset mate![]()
I obviously must have missed that bit under the pic - 48mm crank pin.
I am aware of the rods the only things im unsure about are the questions I asked.
So can 4A main bearings be used in the 7a? Or does the slightly different design of the oil passages make this not possible?
Are there any companys that make decent rod bearings for them?

Heaps of places make 7A rods::
PAR engineering
Pauter
Argo
Saenz
for starters. Looks like the 7A can handle some reasonably powerful setups. A guy in NZ (his tag is bazda) is getting 330fwkw from a 7AGTE and doing 10.88sec quarters.

Thanks for that but I meant companys that make decent rod bearings. ACLRace dont have a listing nor do clevitte.

ACL do 7A Rod bearings.
Some company called TOGA make some (not TODA) scroll down to 7AFE on this page. These guys have good prices on a lot of stuff.
