hi .. i've cut out the rust on the sills of my 22,, now that i have access inside the sills...

what would be the best option/ product to prevent any more rust in future???

POR15, or a Selleys product called rust eater or some name like that, brown bottle in a green box, step 1 in a 3 step process. Available in the paint section of Bunnings. Paint your bare metal patches with Zinc rich weld through primer before you weld them in. When all finished pull the seatbelt mount block off, and spray shit loads of cavity wax into the sills.

Jeffro, it is a K&H product that I use, available from my paint supplier. My local metal centre also sells a similar product, but their prices suck.

just a quick q for anyone whos online atm.

i'm about to go out and buy an air compressor now.. just quickly, would a 2.5hp belt driven 40 litre tank jobby be suffice for spraying or should i be looking at a bigger capacity to do a car?

I would be going for something that has a free air delivery much greater than the requirements of the gun that you're going to use. I would also be loooking at a 50-60L tank.

2.5hp 40L is too small. Good for blowing dust off shit, but not for spraying.

That will struggle with even a Iwata LPH400.

60L belt driven is good.

Direct drive is shithouse. Belt driven compressors are geared and will pump quicker (think of a mountain bike in a high gear, you don't need to pedal much to get the rear wheel to turn several times).

You can get single phase 3.5hp 100L compressors. (I've also seen twin pump 3.5hp 190L single phase compressors, but these are expensive)

and it costs nearly as much to get 15amp power put in as it does to get 3 phase put in. i didnt know you get 3.5, ive got a 3HP thats 15 amp, that i run on 10, does alright, im just waiting to set fireto the wiring...

Again, you show stupidity around electricity. If you have a modern home, you will have sufficient feed to your house, and probably shed, to have a 15A circuit put in for little cost. A lot of very modern homes already have 3 phase connected due to large reverse cycle air conditioners. These are usually pretty easy to back a 3 phase outlet from (though you may need a new feed cable run to your shed, and that is costly).

I run a 2.5Hp belt driven twin piston pump with 60L tank and it will more than keep up with a gravity spray gun. Might struggle with sanding though.

If you only have 10A single phase power, and can't get better power, what I have is about all you will want to get. "Converting" a 15A plug to run single phase is not only dangerous and illegal, it is also STUPID. Do Australia a favour, and please help to increase our perceived IQ level by not doing things like that.

If you don't know what you are doing with electricity, but are considering having a bigger circuit run in your shed for a compressor/welder, pay an electrician with your state's electrical contractor license (ask for the license number and expiry date) and get them to have a look and do a quote. They will probably do the inspection for free with a quote.

Yeah, just get some electrical work done to the house.
We got a 20A line put through so we had somewhere to plug the welder into.
It can run anything 20A or under so now we have another good powerpoint for all those 15A tools too.

High amp power points are a good investment in my opinion.

Hi,, im sure this has been covered before, but just a quick question.... can i spray acrylic products on top of 2pac? or do i have seal it some how? if so with what?

my friend has just picked up a 97 magna for cheap, but it has a bit of hail damage... he just wants to give it a quick repair and respray..... but im assuming that the car has been originally painted with 2pac, due to being a newer model... but we want to use acrylic..... is this possible?? thanks
