21 pages? Thats a bit mean...

Ive used both oribtal sanders and the paint removal goop.
I think the goop is good for panels that are removed from the car, as you can then spray them down easily with a hose when done.
For on car, i use the orbital sander and one of those small "mouse" sanders.

Beadblasting FTW. Sodablasting seems to be getting more popular, though is only good for a FULLY stripped car.

Anyways, yeah Blake can skip through the pages and find the relevant section, there was a really good discussion on paint removal methods, with many valid points, and it would be more educational than us giving him a brief summary. So harden up, we are in the age of broadband, so he can go have a look Plus there are pretty pictures to demonstrate the outcomes of some methods.

    o man
why is soda blasting only good for fully stripped cars?
you can do it with windows, handles, chrome trims and rubbers all still in place, it doesnt touch them.

It makes a mess. Easier to wash out with the car fully stripped.

I've had good results with the POR15 paint stripper... but it's expensive - especially when you get it in your eyes...

Blake, invest in a roll of aluminium tape. Tape 1/2 inch from the edges of the panel, this stops drips of stripper rolling under the edge, and creating problems. when finished stripping, just sand that 1/2 inch of paint away for a good clean finish. I have found the yellow coloured 4 litre cans of stripper available from Bunnings does a better job, than a lot of other brands like SuperCrap.

    cheers Chuck

Autoshops sell 4L tins, you dont want more than that the one tin cause the active ingredient has a boiling point of only 40degC so if you have large drums the pressure will explode.

SEPTONE or AUTO-ONE brand work well. If you want to compare brands, email the companies and ask for the "MSDS", find the % of "dichloromethane" or "methylene chloride" (same thing different name).

p.s. paint stripper causes cancer and loss of sight

for getting rid of paint, invest in a whizzer, a good compressor and a fuckload of 240 grit discs, 180 is ok ish too, just need to prime heavily afterwards.

chemical strippers will fuck paint/bog/everything, so unless your going baremetal, id stick to manual labour to do it.

Hey, where can I get DevilBiss gear in Brisbane. I'm looking on eGay at the moment, but would rather hold the stuff in my hand and check it out before I buy.
I'm after a GTI Pro Base gun, and the HVLP gauge that goes on the gun.

    Any suggestions?
