    Default 4AGTE Buildup

Hi peoples I am looking at doing a 4AGTE buildup.

I have an AE92 map engine with an ae101 lsd box installed currently.
The blower is removed and I have a 100kw inlet manifold setup.

Looking for ideas or peoples past experiences with quality parts and setups they used.
It seems like running a 20v head is a fair bugger to do. How much better is the 20v head for a turbo setup over the smallport I have now.

I am looking at balancing the bottom end and throwing in a set of rods (crower, carillo, spool, par, etc any ideas guys?)

I am also considering a set of standard 4agze pistons or arais or JE or something.
ARP rod bolts, head bolts too.

The head would be a full service with new valves and a metal head gasket.

    Just would like some ideas

Is the engine a 4AGE or 4AGZE that you are starting with? If its a GZE it should have a bigport head, I believe? Just recondition the head, new genuine GZE pistons (not sure about what are the best rods to use), general balance and blueprint, and away you go. If its not a GZE, get one and refer above.

I'm sure this has been covered before, have you searched?

Iam running a 4AGZE with a T25 Turbo, intercooler, bigger injectors, Microtech LTS-10, etc..... The Standard internals are good for 14psi (158rwkw) in my ae86,
Have been running this setup for 4 years, NO PROBLEMS, Engine in excellent cond (no noises).......
Very simple to set it up really, (if you are mechanically minded) Make sure you get a good computer, fuel pump,etc...

I used well known brands, Apexi, Blitz, Greddy

    T25 Turbos are cheap.......

Good power, and it wont cost too much if ur lucky....

MY ADVICE: USE TOP QUALITY OIL, AND CHANGE THE OIL AND FILTER EVERY 1-2 MONTHS. THE OIL IS THE BLOOD OF THE ENGINE! Your engine will 'Love you long time".........

    good luck

just get it all running on the motor as is. The motor in your car was in top condition the last time I saw it, should hold 15psi no sweat.

The boys at Tony regolli performance say 20 valve head suit turbo set up better but eveyone has there own opion. I decided to go down the 20 valve road with a t28 ball bearing turbo and she runs beatiful until i went over seas and my mrs didnt change oil and spun the main bearings.

JP true yeah it is always difficult to know how hard to go on the motor when you arent sure of its past. I mean I could always just get a blower and turn it back supercharged with a nevo pulley as I have all the custom piping made, anyone still got a supercharger setup with blower and abv etc

I performed a real baseline service yesterday on it

Penrite HPR15 Oil, Toyota filters (oil + fuel), Denso Platinum plugs, Toyota Injector Cleaner, Toyota Super long life Coolant, Redline Shockproof Gearbox oil, Full degrease

So it must be in pretty good shape

last setup i did on a 4agze bottem end with a bigport head, steam pipe manifold, 440cc inj, fuel pump and microtech, running 15psi on a t517z it got 190rwkw with slight clutch flare on the dyno.

if i had it, wasnt my car. was at jamboree at willowbank on a dynodynamics dyno with shootout mode on, we where unable to figure out if the head was stock but AFAIK is was all stock bar eagle rods. the t517z on a big port head works very well.

I would also like to see it

But these usually dont exist in the interweb

If so ill sell my 2.7 and get a 1.6

But on topic, you dont always to buy well known brands that are twice the price of others, but you cant go to far wrong if you stick to well known brands, things like intercoolers, the ebay ones are fine and do a fine job.

Your best bet is to have a look around in the members rides section of the forum im sure theres several 4a buildups, that gives you an idea and youll learn what things are needed and what you need to research...
