and yes elmo is correct its the massive heat buildup in the stock y pipe that causes problems coz none of the cars ive done dumps on have had a turbo failure to this day.

if i wanted around 240rwkw id keep the twins
IIRC they are close to $800. More generic ones ie. without seperated wastegate section seem to go for $400ish. So double the price for the better ones is expensive IMO.

Plus the fact that you can put that money towards a single conversion and not have to deal with working on the stockies again

    You'll keep mate

You know your car is a freak. "most" stock turbo cars can't do the shit that yours can.

Hmmm. If dump pipes for the twins are this expensive, maybe its not worth sticking with the twins. I'll shop around and see what I can find.

Sasha from canak autosports does a nice set of dump pipes for around the $600-$700 mark i think.

twin dumps made for a cressy 2.5" all the way to the cat. similar setup to mine.

    pete05 has a set on his jzx73.

with these twin dumps where do you blokes put the o2 sensor ,on one of the dumps or further down where both pipes collect. i was thinking that i could knock up a kit with all the flanges and heavy wall pipe fittings ,then only semi finish it so it could be re configured to fit different model cars.another bit of trivea ,with a bit of work a 2jzgte ehaust manifold will fit a 1jzgte nicely. cheers. bigwad

same with me, no need for it at all, just block it off with a short bolt.

nope. No open loop fuel tuning so not required. You can hook it up for some inaccurate afr datalogging if you want though

either my power fc didnt like the o2 sensor or the o2 sensor didnt like the power fc...

with the power fc using the o2 sensor for closed loop, idle and cruise would fluctuate and hunt around. so ive turned it off which means its not being used.

narrow band o2 sensors are over rated

neonasty: same reason I went single. I thought my twins were gone (apparently not as Wilbo is still using them ) and decided that I never wanted to go through that hassle again. Mine is harder than usualy as I have a steering box there. Basically had to half disassemble the rear turbo to get the bastard out. NEVER again!

In saying that, I did have some serious issues with my old 4" dump pipe getting that in and out as well
ive heard on a few occasions from people that have bought Lews dumps would have rather gone with china.

having seen them, im glad i went with china too.

at $300 for the dumps, front pipe (to cat) and all gaskets, im happy.

On the note of O2 sensors, I'm thinking of this for tuning and monitoring speed (stupid Hilux only goes to 160) and stuff.

    Any opinions on PLX Devices?

Hey all seem as there is all this 1jz goodness talk goin on and lots of talk about dyno figures, im just wondering how everyone dynos there autos? I took it to a place the other week and they dyno guy could do a proper power run in 3rd gear, every time he tried it would just shift back to second and spin the rear tyres. what gives?

If you follow the link to my ride, on the second page there is photos of canaks dump pipes, that i have fitted for those interested.
