    Default 1JZ R154 and 2JZ W58 Flywheel Interchangability

Ok, im pretty sure that the two flywheels are interchangable but it doesnt hurt to check.

The 2JZ W58 is a push type clutch with the same pressure plate pattern as the venerable 7M.
1JZ R154 is a pull type clutch, but im pretty sure that it is only the pressure plate that is different, and the flywheel is indeed the same. From what i can see the only issue would be whether the push clutch bolts up to the 1JZ fly.

Anyone have bits side by side that they can compare?

    They are different.

The push type pressure plate won't bolt to the R154 flywheel.

    Yah,

I've heard of the R154 flywheel being modified to take a push type clutch, so if you have an r154 flywheel I'd take it to the clutch shop and see what they have to say about making that happen?

I have a R154 flywheel nearby, which is the same diameter as the W58 fly. Ill find my 7M pressure plate and check what the difference is tomorrow.

Hm, it seems that it will fit. Ill post up pics later, in the mean time can someone look up on the EPC how many different flywheels the 1JZ got?

7M Pressure Plate fits on both 7M fly (offset bolt hole) and the 1JZ one which Rex pulled off an import 1JZ today

nice, but is the offset right or would you have to mod the carrier?

    cheers

They are the same deck height, so all things being equal (i.e. gearbox mounting flange etc) it should be spot on.

hmm I could have sworn they were different.

The 1jz definatly had an R154 behind it? (I know the 2jzge flywheel can take the 7m pressure plate and clutch...).

Anyway good to know if it is an option!

    Cheers

We dont know, it came from Japan as engine only. Definately came from a JZX81 Chaser as it had a front sump and JZX81 engine mounts. So one must assume that it was mated to a R154.

I had heard along the grapevine that the flywheels were the same, so ill take this as a kind of proof unless someone can show that its not a R154 flywheel (Norbie?)

EDIT: no revealing photos on Norbies site....

That looks like a 2jz-ge flywheel takai, the R154 version has the dowle holes more in the middle of the pressure plate bolts.

If that is the case, what was it doing bolted to a 1JZGTE?
