Yes that is an electronic speedo sensor. The "speedo cable" is just a couple of wires, but you'll have to consult your RSM user manual for how to hook it up and make it work.
Hey guys,
Will keep this simple, i have a turbo sprinter, have recently done a W55/7/8 conversion, i have hooked up the reverse light wires no problems.
On the opposite side of the gearbox (Use pic for reference, the TOP gearbox) there is a black thing that requires a plug. Is that an electronic speedo drive?
Either way, i am not using the standard dash, just going to use an apexi RSM, i want to know what i have to do to hook it up, i'm not using a standard ECU either so i can't just go from the speedo pinout on that (not that it would be any good at the moment without a speedo cable..)
Where can i purchase a speedo "cable" if that's what its called when talking about electronic speedos.
Please dont ask me to search, i have been doing enough of that.
Thanks
Seamus

a couple of wires? or three?
i was *hoping* it would be power/ground/signal, then it would be fairly easy to hook it all up
the three wires are power ground and signal
awesome news
where can i purchase a plug to go into the plug on the gearbox? how exxy are they?
pretty much any '95 on toyota that uses an electronic speedo drive is a source for the 3 pin plug. I usually just sift through my box of toyota loom plugs until I find one that fits
