hey guys, have all the other wires hooked up, except the 3 solenoid wires..
its a 1J soarer loom and a 1J supra box..
anyone help me with the wire vs solenoid colour codes? or how to tell them apart?
If nobody can tell you straight up, just do what I did and apply power to them in turn, see what happens...![]()
u might have speed sensor issues
a soarer loom has 2 wire output shaft speed sensor with 4 teeth on the gear
a supra might have a 3 wire speed sensor with 32 teeth on the gear
look at the back of the gboxes and draw a pic of the speed sensors and how many wires they have
i have been thru this with other people abd its not a chea way to fix it properly
unles su pull back of gbox apart and swap bits over
anywa i have devices that can sort things out if they dont match up but its not cheap
and without proper speed signals the gbox wont change gears properly
so u might be up shit creek without paddle
soarer loom seems to have a 2wire sensor AND a 3 wire sensor.. the supra box had a 3 wire sensor already..
yer the soarer has 2 wire sensor that does the output shaft speed
then the 3 wire sensor does the speedo
the supra i think should have a 3 wire sensor for the abs then it does the ecu
and there should be another sensor on back of supra box 3 wire that does the speedo
i haave not worked on this physically but when i do the maths in my head u have a 2 wire wiring loom and a 3 wire sensor then u will also have different pulse values from one box to another so im guessing u might run into problems
either it wont change gears or will change gears to quickly
or it might just bring up an error code
looks like we might just have to 'suck it and see' soon find out..
brings me to another question.. a fully manualised conversion for this box, will i still get 4 speeds?
1st is power to sol A
2nd is power to sol A and B
3rd is power to sol B
4th is power to no solenoids
so u still need something to switch power thru the solenoids
i have bought afew tip tronic controllers of kdog which can be used
so the lever doesn't actually engage any gears except park, neutral, reverse and 'drive'..
thats the other option..
yes if no electronics are connected to the solenoids then it will select overdrive
hey guys, sorta an update i guess..
we have the solenoid and lock-up wires wired up, and we have built a circuit to convert the 3 wire sensor and feed that to the 'puter, still needs some fine tuning, we think the signal isn't strong enough at higher speeds as it seems to lose the signal.
did u make the digital to analog converter ?
it also has to have the right mount of pulses
we made a circuit that divides the pulse, currently its still outputting it digitally, we haven't changed the shape of the pulse yet.. we have a plan.. will find out tomorrow night..
so u have a crown gbox on a soarer ecu ?
crown has 32 teeth
soarer 4
i have a device that will do the job up to many rpm
but its 330 bucks
supra box, soarer ecu..
if we can't get our circuit to work, im just going to buy one of the flash auto controllers from the states.. but my electronics boffin is pretty confidentive only got a fairly base understanding of what it puts out and what it needs..
on a strange note, when we were testing to see what it needed, we used a cyl distributer on a drill when we had the car on the hoist![]()
would have been easier to change the back section of the gbox over
change the pulse ring and the rear speed sensor
well u must have alot fo time and patience
hope yr not payin by the hour
why not remove the rear pulse ring
see how many teeth it has
then cut it down to have 4 evenly spaced teeth
this way u dont need a divider
all u need is an analog signal to the ecu
yr boffin might be smart but if u look into the units i buy they have 3 big ics
this is so at very hi revs its still stable and with no interference
id never thing about tryin to make them myself to complicated and for price not worth the effort
