It has oil squirters from the factory and if you want to save some weight and aren't using some of the bosses, grind them off. We saved about 250grams (which isn't much but everything adds up) in about 4 or 5 bosses that we don't need in the race car. Its also weight that is right out the front of the car.

Your Red Top Beams has a Banjo Oil Feed Hole?

Some how I don't think so...

The small white circle on the exhaust side of block B is an oil return line from the back of the head to the LHS of the block (about 100mm from the rear and about 80mm up from the bottom of the block) . I thought it was unusual when I pulled the motor down myself but when you consider the number of stories that you hear with the head being full of oil and nothing in the sump for the pump to send back up, you can understand why toyota fixed this problem. i.e. its an external return even in NA guise. We decided not to use this as it would only really suit as an oil return if you have a high mount turbo and mine is a low as you can get it without hitting the rail.

The oil feed that we used was from the oil filter that has a custom fabricated spin on adapter to feed oil from the oil cooler. We simply cross drilled a bolt to feed the outside of the oil filter boss and then went directly to the turbo and pressure sensors. If this was for a street car, I'd look at tapping the main oil gallery at the back of the block in the similar position to where the factory puts it on gen1 blocks (like the other block photographed). I can't remember if the large bolt in the white circle actually hits the oil gallery or not.

BTW its now not even close the how it came from the factory in the configuration that we are using it in including removing the oil pump and water pump from the cam belt drive by using a 2Jz timing belt (dry sump and electric water pump before you ask) .

If you decide to take it from the back of the head in a RWD configuration, make sure you leave at least 25mm of clearance to the firewall as I have seen a motor in a KE35 move that much with rubber mounts and it destroyed the fitting and therefore the motor.

Both blocks have the holes for the oil squirters, so they're both 3S-GTE blocks (as far aas I'm aware off), but the block that has been bored and honed is missing the oil feed hole for the turbo, and has some extra mounting holes which I'm hoping will assist with RWD mounting...

Anyway, as they say, "A picture tells a thousand words...", so here's my 4 thousand word essay!

    Inlet side - Block A

    Inlet side - Block B

    Exhaust side - Block A

    Exhaust side - Block B

How am I going to feed the oil to the turbo???
Block A looks to me to be an NA 3sge, where block B is a 3SGTE, i know because i have 1 of each sitting in my shed and they're exactly the same!!

My Gen2 (SW20) 3sge has all the mounting holes for RWD engine mounts. So that would make block A be the N/A one.

Also i thought all 3sgXX has another fitting on the block on the exhaust side for another pressure sender or oil feed? As at work i have used it to test for oil pressure in the block not the head as the head is too late to find out if you have none.

Soif thats true wouldn't you be able to take your turbo oil feed off of that? And have a drain back into the sump?

Edit: Just looked on my 3SGE and theres no fitting on the exhuast side for an oil feed. Might and just be on 5SFE's

I have been doing a bit of work on one of these engines. I believe it is a 2nd Gen 3SGTE out of an ST185 GT4. The large banjo bolt that supplies oil to the turbo (in the white circle) is, as you say, a stupidly large banjo bolt (I think the thread diameter was M18 - 18mm).

You can buy plug adapters that make this a smaller and more common size:

    Hope this helps,
