3sge beams sump mods?

i have an altezza 3sge in my ae85 but my problem is the sump sits way to low (40mm from ground) how far can u modify them without losing reliability? was thinking bout cutting bout half off the height but make it wider with extra baffels. any help would be great!

On the Gen 3 and Gen 4 BEAMS 3S engines you can use a 2S RWD sump from a corona + the oil cooler fitting from a 5SFE (to fit a filter in the normal on-block position) to fix clearance problems... not sure if the same solution works for the Gen 5 BEAMS.

the front hosing for the oil pump+pickup and other bits need changing also so its not a 30min fix (this is for gen3 onwards) the parts need to be changed to gen2 items and then you will have a fun time sorting out the CAS that is on the timing belt pulley (36-2 pickup).
i would probly mod the orig sump but i havn't seen one yet so couldnt tell you exactly what needs to be done.

no way 2s will work on the gen 5, u can hardly call them a 3s bout the only similar thing between them and the other 3s would be the bore and stroke, have sorted the clearence issues now any way, raised the engine 10mm and put 15 inch rims instead of 14s, now have some 14 inch lonchamps 4 sale if anyones keen

Does anyone know what has to be done when fitting the RWD beams sump to a GEN 2?

As in oil pump? Oil pressure relief? Oil filter?

I want to run the filter where they have it on the beams sump and run an adaptor on the block for my oil pressure and temp gauges. Also run an adaptor on the sump to go to a oil cooler.

Would that work?

you will need the whole setup from a beams (worth it?)
by that i mean alloy sump, steel pan, oil pump, timing gear, front housing and a lot of time on your hands.

why not use the gen2 bits and run a remote oil cooler, it would be shiteloads cheaper.

I have all the alloy and pressed sump bits including the pick up.

Wasn't aware that the whole front would be needed. I bought it off a reconised member on these forums and double checked it with him.

Im going RWD thats why. Would i be able to use an oil pump from a ST205? I pulled one down at work and had the same design with oil filter, pressure relief etc.

can use the pump but i was more talking about the front housing as its way different for the sumps with the filter in the alloy section.

even if your rwding it you can still use the orig gen2 sump bits just mod them to suit.

Dont have Gen 2 sump so it was either this or buy a gen2 one.

I understand about the front housing now but I still dont understand why ST205 parts can't be used? I would of bought new everything from toyota anyway as my work as an account with toyota so i get trade prices.

EDIT: Sorry buddy been having metal blanks all day. The front housing has all the pressure relief and shit in it. So in thoery that could be swap for a ST205 (not up with all the GENs) and should work

gen3 may work but not 100% sure as they may have changed the galleries in gen5.

I have pics of the beams sump if it helps. Not full detail so you can see the galleries but just where they join to the front housing

which sump did you get? fwd or rwd? note that the st205 being EW might not work the best for you.

st205 and beams are essentially the same. the beams fwd versions have an area cut out for the CAS. if you need a pic let me know.
