Like I said it's running heaps rich at WOT (around 10:1 or a bit above) and conservative boost so I doubt I hurt it. Was only into it for a few seconds to see what would happen. I'll be good now.

ETA on tune is unknown at this point, it depends when I get the results of my security check so I can start my new job and make some damn money! A couple of months at least I'd say.

    Dang

Yeah if you were out flogging it with no wideband then yeah big cause for concern but with a wideband and a good safe starting ignition map you should be fine. Speaking of which, what sort of timing are you running at the moment?

I haven't actually looked at the timing yet but it came from a very well tuned big power 2JZ so I'm sure it's all good.

RZ right? What fuel does he use though? If it is already tuned for that car and it was tuned to the limit of the fuel then if you are using a different fuel then it could be close to the knock limit. Whereas if you are starting from a base map then it will already have a fair bit of a safety margin in it (well it should anyway). Either way, be careful

Yep it's Rz's old setup. He tuned it for pump fuel but used a 50/50 toluene mix for high boost.

Anyway no more driving for me, somehow my near-new K&N pod filter snapped off at the base, never seen that happen before and I have no idea what caused it? So until I have money to buy a new filter the car is going to sit in the garage.

Cmon, get it done! All the qld'ers are wigging out of Dubbo... There's also a good chance that all of the cars going from QLD will be 2JZ ... don't miss out :-)

If there's no driving event at Dubbo I'll be taking the Century. The Supra isn't a nice place to be for 12 hours straight.

    Anyway here's some pics.

    Mystery broken pod filter:

    Intercooler/oil cooler/PS cooler mounting finalised:

    Fuses and power relays finished:

Powerhouse Racing vacuum plenum (very handy when you have more than a few things to hook up to a vac/boost source):

Wiring mostly finished, just need to add O2 sensor and IACV wiring:

    PLX wideband gauge installed:

heat, vibrations and sharp edges dont seem to be friends with airfilters. ive seen a few snap off like that when mounted on turbos. intake pipe?

I might be able to fit a small intake pipe in there but as you can see I don't have a lot of room to play with. Would it really make that much difference though? I've seen plenty of air filters mounted directly on turbos, surely they're not all snapping off after a few weeks?

if you have ever felt how hot a comp cover gets then you will know what i mean, 130+degC is typical of a road car with about 1bar of boost and i have seen up to 170degC b4.

even if it was just 4-6" further forward it would be fine (not to mention how far it would drop the inlet temps)

not all of them have snapped but atleast 5 from memory (4 K+N 1 no name)

    cheers
