sorry I guys I made a mistake
the engine at the wrecker near me was a 6A engine not a 5A, either way I was already there so I measured it up and it seems to have 6.8mm of lift. The head does seem identical to a pre 92 4AFE head interestingly enough.

Ok, the reason why i bring this up again is because i met another guy who apperently was doing the samething.
Well not exactly the samething coz he is not using the 5AFE head but just the cam only. However he told me there is some small mod needed to be done.

Late model 4/7A-FE: 7.6 mm lift intake and exhaust
Old model 4A-FE: 6.6 mm lift
5A: No clue...
thanks your a legend, got any duration specs?
I personally measured 6.8mm on the earlier 4afe though
any of u know the 5A lift measure?
Update:
While doing some checking around I found out that some Japanese 7A have the split ports and swirl stuff.
If you are picking one up, make sure you are getting the type you want (with or without the swirl (junk)).
I will put up some scans later,

3sgte: here is what you want:

The 7A head I am familiar with is the single port head, the same as the 4A of the same vintage.
It caught me off guard to see a 7A with those little add-ons.
FWIW, here is the old 7A I pulled out of my Corolla to fit a 3SGE.
228,000 kms on it. I wound up giving it away for free.
1995 Canadian 7A-FE (single intake port type, no EGR, fitted with stock crank sensor)
Here is a Caldina 7AFE:
