Well, Finally managed to get my struts and brakes in. All I can say is wow.

Running Aurora 4.5kg/mm springs on a HSD conversion kit. TA22 Monroe GT shockers and TRW high temp pads and un slotted rotors.

4.5kg springs keep the little 38 riding firm. Surprised the TA22 shocks work pretty well with them.

When warm the brakes will make your face fall off if you jump on them too hard.

Watching my mate drive it home after picking up another car, sits pretty damn well now.

Though it did push my front track out a little. Improved the fitment

    muchly recommended!

    Cheers,

I have read this whole thread and it's a great read! (
I have a TA22 with RT132 struts with TRD inserts and Corona springs......top mount is TA22 to allow fitment to inner wing. Camber and castor are spot on as I lengthened the TCA's.

Brakes are std Corona solid discs and one pot Corona calipers. Wheels are 14 x6 Minilites. All good to go so far....!!

I would like to do this upgrade and I can locate new RA60 vented discs but hit a brickwall when it comes to MX62 calipers.....over here the Cressida was as rare as the dodo....BUT.....one dealer over here lists the two pot Corona caliper as the same as the MX62 one......is this correct?

The real question I am asking is ...can I use RA60 discs with the two pot Corona calipers that I know should fit the RT132 struts??

And.....I daren't ask the obvious question..!!.......are there vented Corona discs out there that would fit the rt hubs and Corona 2 pot caliper??

Any help would be greatfully received as I am in love with my TA22....!!

No vented discs made for the RT132....only slotted and dimpled (as below) or just straight slotted.

CORONA RT 132,RT 133 82-83 Front Gold Rotors | eBay

Also running softer disc pads works well.

    Thanks for your help!
I will probably fit twin pot corona calipers and keep the std discs until I work something out.....it will be better than the single pot I am using now.

The twin pot rona callipers won't open far enough to fit the celica disks. For good pads try ebc greenstuff.

as o man says you are stuck with solid discs if you run those 2 piston sumitomo calipers

just remember guys this is the cheap vented upgrade, i should have qualified this with "cheap if these parts are easy to get"

if you have to spend serious money to get these parts you are better off forking out that money for the hilux/pug upgrade.

Cheers mate.....I am still going to try and find a pair of MX62 calipers so I can use Celica discs but meantime i'll replace to two pot Corona and use the std disc........
Thanks for the tip about greenstuff.......it's appreciated.

Keep in mind the *T13* struts need modifying to take the MX62 calipers - you need to mill the casted surface flat as the MX62 caliper bolts onto the reverse side as the Corona twin-pots. You also need to mill out the thread in the strut because the thread is in the MX62 calipers & make up some spacers to get the caliper offset suited to the RA60 disc. The plus is RA60 discs fit without modification.

Thank you .......getting them milled flat and drilled out is not a problem for me........I just need to locate the MX62 calipers.

Rob......I know the hilux/pug route works but for some reason I don't want to go that route.....I don't have a valid reason to say that though.....
The car get's road use mainly but I do want to do a couple of track days per year for a bit of legal fun and I know that std braked aren't up to that.

If RT142 struts are nearly the same as XT130 struts, can it be assumed they have the same steering knuckles (same geometry/length/tie rod hole diameter etc.)?

Also, could MX72 calipers be used instead of MX62 calipers to bolt to the XT130/RT142 struts?

From memory the RT142 struts have a different kingpin angle and will put the camber out of whack?? Someone else with some first hand experience might pipe up to confirm it.

OK, I though people had successfully used them, but perhaps they had camber issues:

Can the xt130 struts with girlock calipers be used? This thread here suggests they cannot (in relation to the xt130/hilux/pug upgrade):

    http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/fo...-upgrade/page3

I measured the bolt spacing of the xt130 girlock calipers and it was around ~90mm. So the MX62 calipers should be able to fit without any issues?

MX62 callipers fit *with* issues using RA60 rotors. The calliper bolt spacing is one thing, but then you have to worry about rotor thickness, offset & diameter to suit the calliper.. A fair bit of trial & error is probably going to be involved, just sayin'

i can confirm camber issues with the rt142 strits i used st141 which are the same in my ke30 and only just took the camber into zero by pushing my camber tops all the way in. thinking ill get some longer lca's. that will give me a little more track and some actual adjustment with the camber tops
