Default throttle opening direction (quads on 4AGE)

I have been planning on building a quad throttle adapter to make quad silvertop TBs go on my smallport 4AGE, finally worked out an easy way to do it but it is still looking like it will be cheaper and easier to just buy a T3 adapter plate.

My only concern is that with it, the throttles are on upside down, so the butterflys open the "wrong" way

from what i understand, this has been for packaging (so it doesnt run into shit) and not for any other reason, i was figuing on mounting them as per 20 valve engines, angling down if necessary.

would the throttles opening the opposite way cause any issues at part throttle? i know at WOT it will have pretty much no effect, but i want it to work right at all throttle openings.

i should ask Gabe if he can make one up the right way, but i wouldn;t if i was in his position i guess.

they shouldnt be able to open the other way due to throttle stops, unless this has been removed,

u may have trouble with the TPS tho, other than that, it should be fine, your still getting the same opening's....just the way that the butterfly turns,

im curous to what others say,

The older versions of T3 manifolds actually are mounted the same as the original position. Its also a straight type (no angle). Might be tough finding one now though. I had a bigport version.

I own the new version (angled+180 degrees rotated) but I can't see how flow rates can be any worst/better?

wont make three f#@ks of difference, made them b4 and they are a pain in the butt.
trust me save your time and buy the t3 one (saves headaches also).

    cheers

lol, cheers roadrunner, our dollar is pwning the greenback right now so i think i'll buy them.

in 05 nt, the T3 adapter puts the TBs upside down, so they open "bottom in" rather than "top in" nothign to do with throttle stops or anything wierd.

thanhngo, got any pics? the ones on their site look pretty straight (but still rotated) its not the flow i'm worried about, more turbulence and so on. i have heard from enough people that its no problem now, so ill just buy one, simple!

    thanks for the replys guys!

Sorry no pics as I haven't installed them yet.

The new ones have a slight angle up and barb's in each runner for vacuum collector. I prefer the ports on the older (straight) versions as they were blended simplier (circle->oval). The current version has a little bit more complex ports due to angle introduced and the finish isn't as smooth, there are a few ridges that will need to be blended if you give the rats

I'll have a spare smallport one for sale soon as I get back from overseas. I try get some pics...if u can wait.

yeah i can wait! (a few months at least, have been without my car for the last month so should be used to it by now)

im interested to see what you mean about the stuff that needs working on, i was hoping to have sometihng that just bolts on perfectly, though when i bought my RCAs i had to hand file them about 10 times to get them to fit inside my struts.

really intereested to see pics, from what i hear the angle was introduced to help fitment too.
