Squealing noise? Could it be an intake leak of some sort? A leak in the gasket can cause air to be sucked in making the squeal.
Can anybody help me sus out my problem, from about 43% throttle till about 58% throttle my 4AGE is making a strange noise, it is sort of like a squeel, but not constant. So I guess like a fluttering squeel if that makes sense?
At first I thought it was pinging, but after doing some tuning and messing with the timing it is still there, and I have also head pinging over the noise.
I am assuming it is something to do with the way the air is passing over the throttle bodies at those certain positions as it only occurs between those two throttle positions, and it is the same noise just some times louder and sometimes quiter depending on engine load.
I am just wondering if anyone else has had this noise and what they have done to solve it?
Thanks for any input!
Cheers.

Nah, I am pretty sure it isnt an intake leak, I have had the setup on 3 different motors and it has done it on all 3, I use genuine toyota gasket + holomar spray gasket each time!
and it only does it between 43% and 58% throttle!

Fair enough. It's just that I drove a 5mge with an intake manifold leak, and it was like that too. Only on a specific rev range and throttle position. At WOT it'd be ok for some reason?

hmmmm maybe there is a leak somewhere else in the setup! I will check it out tomorrow night! Thanks for that suggestion!
The runners for each cylinder have a fitting going down to a vac cylinder, and that has a fitting going to the brake booster, and that has a one way valve on it.

You Got Lsd Going Lad???
mine leaks and makes a squeaking/whistling noise, its annoying but i can generally avoid that throttle position.
I used to get some weird noises out of mine at a little less throttle than that.
NFI what caused it, but it didn't affect the running of my engine at all.

Mine has a bit of a whiney squeal too. I've listened carefully and it seems to be coming from around the injector area.
Nothing here. But it could be drowned out by the side pipe.
