I just cut and shut mine to get the same sort of effect. You can get away with a constant curve if it isn't centred on the shaft.
Hi all
Just wondering if anyone knows of any cars (doesn't have to be toyota) that have an eliptical throttle cable arm on the throttle body. The reason is, in my spontah the travel distance of the accelerator pedal matches the closed-to-open of the butterfly nicely. But whenever I drive it it feels like the first 2cm are from open to closed, and the rest of the pedal travel does nothing. This has become a little bit of an issue on dirt racing, as its hard not having a more proportional control, feels kinda like "off" or "full wheelspin" lol.
The current "arm" (if thats the right terminology) has a constant diameter, so we are thinking that if we replace it with an elipitcal shaped one (starting larger then moving to smaller) the more fine grain cortrol over the throttle could be acheievd.
anyone have any ideas? I know we could possibly change the pedal movement geometry to acheve the same thing, but replacing the arm could be a more elegant and easier solution.
Cheers
Evan

You could always go for something like this and fiddle with ratios to your hearts content...
I am needing to do something similar to mine, Bens idea sound like the simplest way to go.

Think about it carefully, I did mine backwards the first time![]()
thanks for the replys guys.
that customisable linkage looks quite interesting, but could probably knock one up at home
cheers
