the way i mounted the r32gtst disc was
    1 bore centre hole
    2 drill 4x100pcd into disc
3 machine the hub so the disc clears the strut.

but then found the strut ears fouled the caliper (not applicable if using 298x30mm discs)
so i went back to a 23 strut (as they dont have the ears) and built a bracket off the orig 4 bolt design.
    cheers

ps i just got a price on my hatted rotors today $595ea for dba 5000 series. so dont bother with that approach.

RA60 rack and cross-member if you can get it engineered will suit better than ke70 setup as the dimensions of everything (including the distance between the strut tops on ra60 and ra28/3/40) will all be the same (original KE70 strut tops are slightly further apart from memory compared to ra23/8/40). Again TA022 went through this, but to get it engineered he had to weld the original crossmember points where it bolts to the chassis from the 28 crossmember onto the ra60 one, not too much of a pain but enough for him to change to a KE70 setup instead.
an ra60 setup will give wider track than a KE70 due to the further out mounting points of the control arm mounts. (the difference should be able to be boought back to within legal limits using higher offset tyres)

measurments in this link when i was down at the wreckers a while ago:
    http://www.toymods.net/forums/showpo...6&postcount=32

It also mentions in the full thread that when TurboRA28 did his ke70 rack xmember upgrade it increased the track by 15mm per side, so ra60 will be a little bit more again, not much though.

    Original XT130/RT132 disc specifications:
    266mm x 12.7mm with a total height of 42mm and a 76mm centre hole and a 4 x 114.3 PCD
Brake disk PCD is something like 4x100. Hub PCD for the rim is 4x114.3...

And some food for thoughts: Wilwood uses 88.9mm bolt spacing in many models of their calipers. Like this. Corona bolt spacing is 90mm. I think bolt holes can be stretch by 0.55mm. I'm probably going to get wilwood's next...

the ke70 x member is already 50mm wider c/c of lca bolts so why go any wider that would be stupid.
if you change the track to much you wont be able to get it engineered.
and what rims would you run on that setup to keep std guards? 17x5 with an offset of +45?

yeah mocked all the RA60 gear into position etc ... only had stock 5inch steelies on but wasnt too bad camber wise.... still positive but was still using 23/28 control arms.

I changed to KE70 as time was off the essence when the engineer made mounting change to my setup.

If i could do it again i'd go back to RA60 for -track-depth(cross bends lower)-use of ra60 struts-power steer-

    ill get there one day.

Although increased track wasnt something I thought about when doing the KE70 ... any1 got a ra60 strut in WestSyd? I'll trial fit one to check camber ... if not ill buy one from pickies .... $30 for a test .. ill pay that

    Brake conversion noob.

What is the figure in mm you are giving for the calipers? Does the disc thickness just have to be smaller than this?

So from what Linden says none of the above discs can be used as they aren't 298mm then?

I think I will take some pics of my stock rt132 brake setup and my xt130 setup with HQ single pots on them and see what the difference is. This stuff is all very new to me (or actually has been so long since I did it I have forgotten).

Basically, have hilux drums on the back and looking for something that can pull me up from 220km/h in about 500m slightly downhill in a car weighing 1230kg.

    Oh and I need 5 X 114.3 PCD.

The mm figure for the calipers is the space it allows for the disc... And, I can only assume this takes into account a brand new set of pads... (While the allowance for the disc is at it's lowest...)

Next question. If I already have 276mm discs (unsure of thickness at present). How can I judge if going to a slightly bigger disc and smaller piston (multi) rather than big single piston is actually going to increase braking ability?

a 280mm disc probly wont help much but a multi piston caliper with more surface area for the fluid to push against (regardless of pad size) will, if its vented then chances are it will stop you with the same force but for a longer period.
i can fit a set of r33 gtst brakes to one of these struts no probs (and will fit behind most 15s apart from simmons) and with the right disc/pad combo it would stop you like you hit a tree.
but the smaller r32gtst stuff wont fit as there are clearance issues with the strut ears.
    cheers

Thanks Linden, so first point of call then is findout out surface area of the above calipers and my HQ ones. Does anyone have details on the above or is it just a hit and miss type thing?

    Linden,

When the R32 GTS-T caliper ears were hitting the struts, what discs were you testing this with?

I did a little more research today and found a more suitable disc...

    Volvo S40/V40 disc specifications:
    281mm x 24mm with a total height of 46mm, a 69mm centre hole, and a 4 x 114.3 PCD

no the strut ears interfear with the caliper.
one sits in between the caliper ears and will foul the brakepad if you use the small 280mm disc.
im using the gtst discs with the back of the hub machined to suit.
i can get you some pics if you want.
ive made a bracket that will let you put them on 23/28 struts if you want to use the r32 stuff.
    cheers

The R32 discs has a total height of 54mm... If you were to use the 46mm high Vlovo disc, do you think this would solve the issue being that the disc, and therefore the caliper, would be sitting 8mm further out?

Also, would you be intrested in selling this bracket, how much, and which disc and caliper is it to suit? (eg. R32 GTS-T disc and caliper, or R32 GTR disc and caliper)

One of the biggest reasons I want to go roughly a 280mm disc, is the fact I've got 15" Simmons, and don't want to change them for this upgrade...

pics would be good. And an arrow pointing to these "ears" you speak of It is hard to picture for me. This weekend will pull the shit off and have a look.
