Chain??????????
Or are you talking about the water/alternator belt?
Hi,
Just wondering where I'd be able to get my hands on a new timing belt for an 18-RG. If so, does anyone know the part no?
Cheers,
Ren.

Yeah sorry I am talking about alternator belt
pretty sure its the same as an 18r one, which you can get from repco and the like.
the alternators in the same location and the blocks are pretty much same...someone can confirm![]()
Thanks, yeah I called up and they're $12 from Repco. Are they easy to fit?
shouldnt take long at all! havnt done one before personally, but just loosen the alternator and slide it inwards to relieve tension in the belt. then u can slide the belt off and put a new one on. then just slide the alternator and bolt it back like before!
too easy.
just confirm with someone more knowledgable that the belts are the same![]()
Yeah they're easy to fit. just do what Hash said ^^. take the tension off the alternator bracket and take the old belt off by feeding it through the radiator fan. Feed the new belt through the fan and tension the belt up.

Hi, Im enthused about corollas..
you could take the old belt with you to make sure you get the same one/same length should be the same as 18R
fitment is easy as said in previous posts above

Thanks MAD79R. Just bought one today for an 18R. I loosened the top bolt on the alternator but it won't budge. Do I need to loosen the bottom bolt as well?
Cheers,
Ren.
On some cars it does help, could be a little seized too if its been a while.Do I need to loosen the bottom bolt as well?

You will need to loosen the bottom bolt so that the alternator can pivot in towards the engine on it.
