    Default 4age BT engine parts....

    Hey All....

Finally gotten my 4age Black top 1/2 cut, and it certainly looks good.... Looking forward to performing the conversion into my AW11...

But I just have a couple of quick question....

    1) I've purchased a 1/2 cut, but noticed that the cat is not included, and I know that there is a sensor after the cat. This sensor, is it an important part to getting the BT engine running? IE: Will this affect the running or the fuel consumption of the BT engine? What is this sensor anyway? Is it a OxySensor? (Can't be as it's after the Cat?)

    2) I've also noticed that the Long shaft on the BT is in 2 pieces, compared to 1 single piece in the AW11. Now, Can I use the 2piece Long shaft on my C52 gearbox? Is there any benefit from using the 2piece long shaft or should I just reuse my C52 long shaft?

    Thanks in advanced....

    MIKE.

Pretty sure the 4 wire O2 sensor in my Silvertop is before the Cat in the Secondaries. Not sure what the one after the cat in your blacktop would be...

I think the driveshafts are called "equal length." They should bolt up to the C52 ok. The slivertop came with C56 and C56 boxes stock. The blacktop came with C160 and C56 (from memory). I think the 2 piece ones are better for Torque Steer in the FWD's. Not sure if that will affect you. Are you running an LSD? What is the Transaxle code on the Black top front cut you got? C56-15A, C56-04C, C160-###?

A while a go I purchased an instrument cluster out of some JDM corolla and it had an exhaust temperature light so my GUESS would be that, that's the sensor to tell you your cat converter is outside its operating temperature range. Look at your cluster, does it have a little light that has a box with squiggly lines coming off it ?

In regards to the driveshaft you should definitely use the two piece shaft.

The sensor after the cat is just an exhaust temp sensor. It's separate to the oxygen sensor. Dont worry about it. they dont really do anything.

I don't know if there's any REAL benefit (less torque steer LOL) however I adapted an equal length driveshafts to work on my AW11 ( I am in Perth too ) but with the E58 supercharged / viscous LSD box. For my setup I have to use a very slightly tweaked 1996 SW20 Turbo half shaft.

The FWD drivers side shaft are longer by about an 40mm or so on AE92 and AE101 corollas. So you would probably have to move the engine towards the left hand side about 20mm, not to mentioned strut mounting points, suspension mounting points.. etc.....i.e. way too hard. However it would be cool to have a slightly wider track.....

    Cheers, Nick.
