    Default 1nzfe + ke70

ok now i know your guna say things like 'whats the point' , 'it won't be fast enough' , 'its too hard just get a 4age' BUT i'm interested in doing this simply because of it being a pretty good idea for a daily ie: good fuel economy/ ok power.
this is only going to be the wife's car anyway

    the engine itself:
    1.5L twin cam vvt
    80kw/144nm
    6.7ltr/100km average.

the things i am aware of:
    FWD (duh)
it needs the loom/ecu/ignition barrel AND key to work
it doesn't use a return fuel line
    water lines
alternator in front of inlet manifold
    wack engine mounts
no direct bolt-on RWD gearbox available

SO, what else am i missing?
and YES i'll be doing alot of it myself (i ain't a noob!)

i'm a little confused, and please don't bite my head off for asking, BUT won't the money saved with good economy be lost with hard conversion?

what about sump, cross member? will they be issues?

the sump should be ok, if not i can always space the xmember down.

and i understand where your coming from but the more fuel prices go up, the more i save, thats how i look at it

i say go for it, its a really good idea... might be a bit of a pain to do but in the long run if you get it running jsut right youll save in the end... and it gets a bit boring seeing 4age's ca's sr's etc... in ke70's ae86's etc...

yeah that's what i'm hoping for
what gearbox to use is another thing, it has a K40 in it now, maybe i'll just switch to the K50? they should handle the power?

jsut get an adapter plate made, if you already got the clutch and fly wheel with the 1nz, and a gear box with bellhousing it shouldnt cost much to mate them up.

jsut got to look out for what side the starters on (might have to relocate) and imput splines of the gear shaft.

or you could jsut get the two bellhousings milled apart and join the right ends togeather in the middle... etc...

how much do these engines go for?

yeah there's a few ways to go about doing the bellhousing,

i got a price of 1250 for a motor/loom/ecu and ignition barrel, pretty good i thought.
oh and if i find one cheaper these guys will match it!
    here's a nice front view...

the oil filter MAY have to be relocated as well.....but i already knew that, they're very similar in setup to a 2zzge, which i have as well(very, very dead.)

i like it... i like it a lot..

the 1NZ afaik has never been into a RWD format simply because it's not as potent as other options.. the 1NZ is a VVT-i btw, and imo quite potent for a 1.5 fuel saver.. i'm making over 80FWHP with a FWD box..

the intake manifold will be a challenge as modifying it will cause it to run funny and hamper performance like a bitch... and also, the 1NZ runs a C56 box if not mistaken (internet says so), so yea what gearbox are you going to bolt onto it? T50?

ITB is a good idea, but getting it to run requires an aftermarket ECU.. was done on a 2NZ before and was a lot of work, to the point the VVT-i was disconnected because Microtech can't handle the solenoid... and autronic was beyond the price range (the guy spent a lot of money already getting it to run)

keep us updated , i'm really interested to see how it can be done

i was hoping you'd chime into this
i was only dreaming about the ITB, thats a little too much at once, lol.

the 2zz has the same input spline count as a t50, knowing toyota maybe the 1nz is the same?

the inlet is going to be the biggest headache, i was thinking if i had enough space to leave the inlet facing backwards i could make an airbox in the space next to the wiper motor.

lol, i think ITB's would kill the point of this exercise anyway... itb's chew fuel...

if you had jsut enough cleearance you could get a 180 deg. bend and just pipe it from the front like normal... the plenum looks rather small, altho thats the only pic of the car ive ever seen so i cant really say.

eek.... maybe not... altho if you dont mind cutting a hole in the fire wall you could have an air box in your glove box.... haha.

cut and shut might be your best option for that one.
