afaik, the bolt holes are 0.5" further apart. no reason you couldn't just make new holes/crushtubes in the cross-member. (28" vs 28.5"?)
but the you may have issues with LCA's and steering arms etc (KE30 steering arms are longer)

Nah you cant put a KE30 crossmember into a KE20.

Dont worry about the noob alert haha its easier to ask than search anyway and i still havent got a clue how the new search function works on theses new forums haha.

Anyway, youd be better off, cutting the mounts off, welding them back onto the crossmember at the correct distances, than trying to fugg around fitting a KE30 crossmemeber.

The control arms are different and so are the struts, simply bolting all the KE30 stuff in work work in THEORY, however, your suspension geomoetry will be all out of wack and you still need to accomdate the fact the the chassis rails are closer together in a KE20 than a KE30 anyway.

well since we are on the topic, and people want to put them into ta and ra chassis, what is the comparison to engine mount spacing? Could save someone the trouble of figuring it all out?

from my measurements so far, the 3rz mounts sit about 60mm toward the rear of where the original 18r mounts would be.

this should be okay for me since i will be using a AE71 xmember and the mounts sit about 60mm back as well

the width difference between the 18r and 3rz mounts is also different but i cant remember the magnitude of it or which one is wider

Brett... what about sump clearances? Does the hilux 3rz sump clear the RA crossmember neatly?

Engine mounts are easier to fabricate than sumps...

ive got a prado engine. they run a front sump. the hilux 3rz is a rear sump. if you read above, this guy has cut the rear sump bulge and turned it around to make a front sump

the sump i have is FKEN deep. it goes down to the depth of a normal front sump, then there is another drop which is about 4 inches.

because of the diff being directly below it in the prado, the sump isnt very flat in the middle section. ill get pics of this soon

here is one pic so far though. i think it would nearly drag on the ground if i left it as is hahahah

    hello

yeah i can see now that the engine mount is a little further back than the 18R one.... but nothing a little creativity with some 5mm plate steel and a welder couldnt fix!

    P.S. 3RZ is the son of 18R.

the mounts look to be in a similar position to the rear mounts on a 18RG or a 21r/22r

measure one of your 18rg blocks karl. if they're the same it means a 3rz would nearly bolt into a RA6x hahaha

i have my doubts. 16v, flowing the other way and 2.7 litre

only thing they have in common is a timing chain

Okay, lets see if they fit, forget mounts {they,re easy} forget sumps {a pain but fairly easy} first you have to fit it in the hole you have. Close the bonnet and get under the car (a hoist makes it easier) mearuse from the firewall 600mm forward and felt pen the underside of the bonnet (this is where the rocker cover will be at its closest) Sit a bubble level on the bottom of the cross member and measure from your felt pen mark straight down. You will have to have 625mm to make it fit without cutting or fabricating new xmembers. this gives you 25mm between conrod throw and xmember, so its pretty tight. i measured for days and actually went out and bought one, put in the hole and still wasn,t sure it was going to fit. Hope this helps

gear box bolt up face to centre of engine mount is 290mm, same face to crankshaft bolt (overall) is 570mm. It measures up smaller than SR20 Should be heaps of room in a celica
