    Default G52 to 3VZ-FE bellhousing?

    Hi,
When I can scrape the cash up I am looking at an engine conversion for my 22R powered Bundera. Reading around it seems a Camry 3VZ-FE might fit the bill, but I have a few questions first. If anyone can advise me it'd be much appreciated.

First of all, I understand the G52 gearbox has the same bellhouse bolt pattern as a W5x series gearbox. And the 3VZ-FE has the same bellhouse bolt pattern as a 3SGE. Assuming these two statements are correct, are there any bellhousings out there that would suit this conversion? Ie a 3SGE -> W5x bellhousing?

Secondly, if a bellhousing is not availabile could I use one of the adaptor plates detailed in this thread: http://www.toymods.net/forums/showth...ghlight=3vz-fe fit the bill? I think I could use this with my existing 22R bellhousing.

The advantage of the second option seems to be that the engine could be mounted straight up and down instead of on a tilt.

Any ideas or opinions are welcome. I'm still in the "thinking it through" stage and am not afraid to rule out this engine idea totally. A friend says the 1JZ would be an easier conversion but I'm not keen on a V8. Just a bit more offroad driveability than the old faithful 22R would be nice

theres a bellhousing from the 2s that will to the job, but finding one is a task, from an sa63 celica, you may find the camry v6 lacking torque, hence a few people going to commo 6's

also the 1jz is an inline 6 not a v8
    2T out 4A in....

    4A out 3VZ in. 3vzfe rebuild, RWD-ising, and conversion for ta22

my bad, i meant a 1uz. I'd like to keep a toyota engine as i find the ecotec pretty unrefined. My friend said he used a bellhousing from an early tarago when he fitted a 3SGE into his 1982 hilux. If he is correct, perhaps that'd be easier to find than a bellhousing from a 2s.

EDIT: Doing a bit of a google tells me that some Spacias/Taragos came with a RWD 3SFE setup, so that bellhousing should be usable too.

The Y series bellhousing can bolt up to an S block, you need to elongate one of the bolt holes though. I have no idea if S and VZ bellhousing bolt patterns are the same though.

FWIW GiantTomato developed an adapter plate for VZ engines, maybe shoot him a PM for more info.

That would be the one my friend used in his Hilux. Came from a 3Y powered Tarago. I think S and VZ bellhousing bolt patterns must be quite similar due to the 3VZ-FE conversion of an SW20 MR2 detailed here: http://toymods.net/forums/showthread...highlight=sw20

I gather you'll have a problem with the starter motor and the F heads though, only the single cam 3VZ ever came RWD. Should be fixable with a bit of meddling, though. I collected a couple of SA63 housings with the intentions of sometime fiddling with V6 projects.
