If you can get your hands on a JZX81 front cut, you'd be crazy not to.
JZX81 front cut = engine swap.
Anything else = engine conversion.
I am about to the very unsual 1jz into MX83 engine swap. LOL. I am I better off getting a JZX81/90 front cut or just get the engine and gearbox package. Going for standard computer and daily driver status so jus exhaust and i/cooler mods in the long run.
Opinions please.
Cheers
Rich

Yeah can get the jzx81 front cut but it is about $1500 more expensive than and engine/gbox loom and computer on its own so I'm wonder if the extra expense is worth it. The f/cuts have obviously become popular due to this conversion and price has gone up. JZX90 has the same sump configuration etc so I don't know why that shouldn't be a straight "swap" as well wouldn't it?

If this is your 1st conversions then buy a half-cut - it will have everything you need. When you are finished you can sell or throw out what's left over.
If you have done this swap before then just buy motor/gearbox as you will know what other parts you need.
In other words easier to buy half cut, cheaper to buy motor/box and a few other parts.

get the cut, there's easily $1500 worth of stuff in a cut you wouldn't get with an engine package that makes a JZX83 swap so much easier and neater.
All the aircon lines, condensor, etc etc that fit around the FMIC, PS lines, resivour and bracket, larger front brake setup, strut brace, the correct engine brackets and crossmember, passenger side charcoal cannister, complete cooler setup that bolts straight in, radiator with excellent hydraulic cooling fan setup with lines etc, accelerator cable, intake piping, ignitor bracket, brake booster hardline and softlines, correct high pressure fuel line from hardline to filter, cluster with tacho that works perfectly with 1J ignitor, ABS and TRAC modules if you want to use them, etc etc.
The difference between a cut and an engine pack is the difference between a factory looking conversion and a dodgey bros slap together job.
