Having a ball swapping the engine over.

3 bent valves in the head, noticed it doesn't have the lobe for the fuel pump because it's the injected model.
Going to get new valves, guides, stem seals, regrind for the head but put the old head on till it's back.
Also noticed the head bolts weren't torqued up and the head still had left overs of an old gasket stuck in places as well as a new one

Are the auxiliary shafts interchangeable between engines?

Or should i switch to electric fuel pump instead? What would i need? Pump, wiring, regulator, return line....?

As far as I can tell, the shafts can be swapped.
If you want to remain mechanical, I can help you with a spare shaft.
If you want to go electric fuel pump, then yes what you said you need.

So, got the busted tensioner out with a chisel, installed the head again. Its running now, just needs to be tuned in all aspects. I got told that the 40mm carbs wont be enough for a 2.2 but that sounded like bullshit to me. Thankyou to the guys on here helping me along, and big thanks to willowfan foe supplying the new tensioner

40mm is plenty for na. My webers were taken directly off an Alfa and ran flawlessly for 10 years.

What about if i put on a low boost sc12 or sc14? Would the 40mm still handle - 2.2 with sc, early cams, extractors and 2.5" exhaust? Theyre the max mods i'll have...

Ended up swapping the shafts over. One is longer as the lower chain sprocket and the gear that drives the distributor is one piece on the older engine but seperate on the later one.
As long as you use the right combination of parts it's not an issue.

I've noticed the earlier model pistons have bigger valve reliefs, so i better check clearances before getting too far.

Early model pistons have bigger domes, the reliefs still accommodate the same valves.

Cheviotrolla, twin dual 40mm throat carbs will accommodate the supercharger, but will need re-jetting to suit.

Just had a poo moment. I need a source for head gaskets to suit 92mm bore. I called ACL in Queensland where I had previously sourced my gasketes and they informed me they are no longer associated with specialised gaskets and gave me the new number. Called specialised gaskets to be told they don't like to do low run stuff anymore and would have to charge $100 bore
So I'm looking for alternative suppliers for over sized head gaskets. Not looking to go to metal gasket just need a gasket to suit a 92mm bore.

    Try Gasket Solutions Home

They did a custom 18RG triple layer metal for me last November, good price and quick service

Is there an echo in here? hehe

As i posted on your other thread - Cometic do a 92mm bore head gasket for the 18RG. I sourced mine through CV Products in the USA through work contacts, but I recall others on here have got them through Performance Wholesale here in Oz.

    Hey 18rg fans

I'm at the stage of fitting the 18rgeu (EFI) into the ra28 and i'm now looking for a throttle cable. Before I go wandering around the wreckers what have people used in the past?

    Cheers

Any good tuners in Sydney? I'm pretty much at the end of the line with what I know I can do, cant get the carbies to idle properly and sync with proper timing, and vice versa. And please dont say SW
