G52s aren't as popular with the 2wd enthusiasts, however there are a lot of Hiluxes with half a million k's on the clock which have shot synchros or otherwise, so the G52 is often sought after for that purpose, and they are also price jacked due to being a 'magical' 4wd part...

I think I'm starting to get carried away with this.

What's the current ITB hotness? And do people run stock dizzy setup, and a stand-alone fuelling ECU?

    Hi,

I was going to ITB Trini on her engine. The final price for ITB set up was more expensive than running a turbo set-up, and I get more power with the turbo. So, that is when I ditched the ITB scenario and went for the snail.

On the subject of itbs. Is anyone running mechanical injection quad throttles like the chickadee ra40 coupe?? Is it still possible to purchase a setup??

Does anyone know the owner of the chickadee car?? If so I had pictures from the willowbank historics years ago when I spent hours drooling over it and I've lost them and I would love to get some new pics if possible.

I guess for me it's a bit different. Basically everything I've ever owned has been turbo... the whole point of the 18RG is to have something different to my usual.

it's either ITBs or webers, and webers aren't a lot cheaper IMO... not to mention being ahrder to set up and potentially temperamental.

most dcoe pattern itb will bolt onto the factory solex manifold.

the efihardware ones are pretty sweet, but expensive. http://www.efihardware.com/products/...ttle-Body-Kits

Not running yet, planning adaptornic to take care of fueling and ignition with custom crank trigger. (and prolly some sorta cam reference for sequential)

    Hi,

18R-G carby engines sound horn. All those pipes and tubes and cables on the carbs is a delight to the eyes. Forget the ITB and go old school, man.

I have my carby 18R-G and love it... and now I have got a turbo 18R-G - which is sort of like modernising a steamtrain, which is way cool.

Yeah I've seen those, they certainly seem expensive for what they are (basically, carbies without jets & stuff).

This might be old news, but has anyone messed with using 20v or SR20 quads?

Oh hay. I've retired that idea and the BT20V quads are gathering dust. I'm going the EFIHardware 45mm body route. I realized the effort involved was significantly higher than initially anticipated as I wanted to retain all the factory vacuum ports and fuel rail etc etc. It went in the too hard basket after about a month.

ok people need an opinion from like minded people. a fellow toymoder has caused me many issues due to parts he gave away the parts i need to my enigne in. the only flywheel i have left has been sitting out side under a tree/pile of leaves for somewhere between 5 and 10 years. should i just sand the rust off and use it?

    Hi,

    Are you serious?

Despite my respect for the stock (I assume we are talking stock?) flywheel, it's ability to sever limbs and vehicles would surely be enhanced further by using one that's quietly corroded and rusted away for the past decade in the yard.

You could try and clean it up, but if it was for my car or a mate's car, I'd look for something a little less "agriculturalised".
