Stock 8.3:1, Stock 8.7:1 or Stock 9.7:1?? If you are unsure what I mean by that, look at the very first post in this thread.

Not running boost helps you to be able to run a thinner lid on the piston, though you still need to make sure the tune is good.

heya's, wondering what spark plug would be recommended for a standard 18R-G? can only find a listing for 18RGEU's on the computer at work, but i dont want to assume its the same for a carbouretted one.
    thanks all

    Hi,

Is the engine an 18R-G, 18R-GR or 18R-GU?

I think the 18R-G and 18R-GR used the same plug.

    These are carby versions.

NGK all the way. From memory it is the BPR5EY, but check that for confirmation. If you have points ignition, I would be running a 0.8mm gap, but if you have electronic ignition, this could be pulled out to 1.0 or 1.1 if you have a decent coil to back it up.

How common were the 18R-GR in this country and did many get in?

I had a 2T-GR in my 23 and it went like the clappers but the head was totally different to the basic 2T-G.
It had different size valves and the cams had a different grind. Were the 18R-GR similar?

its still in the car. is there a way of telling from the pulleys? theres no pollution gear on the engine. except for a charcoal canister that wasnt connected to anything, or is it more to do with tuning/cam?
