I guess you can get those steel hose ends, and they're reasonably priced.

I was thinking of the alloy ones (proflow, sppedflow etc), which range from $10 for a really simple one, to $40 for a complex one.

I like the under car option for noise, smell, and legality. But the quarter panel option is OK.

what do people think the likely hood of fitting this type under the car.
As I haven't been under mine for ages, does anyone feel this doable easily.
It's on ebay at the moment, mainly for VT c'dore setup, but i do believe it's a easy add to the underneath, may need a bracket only.
I don't want to cut into the floor.
    what are your thoughts?
the piping and stuff are not included, so your own setup will need to be fitted.
Also how would this line up inside the rear qtr panel. Maybe a L shape bracket, block off area and vent out though pillar vents?(thinking )
I had my surge tank under the car, piece of cake to setup, the thing I had in my favour was that my muffler, was a relatively small OD round one (not a oval shaped one), and the down side was that I had rubber fuel hose running near by the exhaust pipe... But realistically, the temp at the tip isn't all that high...

The next one will have a surge tank in the engine bay (1L max) or hidden behind the front guard. If you run your fuel rail return to the surge tank, you can get away with a very small surge tank.

Try Pirtek, Enzed or any other hose place. Brass fittings are more than capable of handling fuel at pressure, and cost in the vicinity of $1.50 to $4 each depending on size. Last time I went to Enzed it cost me under $40 for a 2 metre length of 5/16 bundy tube, a length of suitable oil resistant pressure rated rubber hose, a couple of hose clamps, a brass fitting for one end of the bundy tube to fit into the oil pressure switch hole, and the labour to give the other end a bead. Turns out there is a locally owned hose shop which could have done it cheaper, using silicone hose rather than rubber. Will use them from now on.

Of course, if you want pretty speedflow fittings, then yeah, they will cost a lot.

There is another type of under car surge tank on flea-bay that is made in Brisbane for a reasonable price. It is very similar to the one TwentyEight has. It holds about a litre, and is very short, they have the dimensions in the ad for you to get a tape out and measure up where you think it will go.

I can't see myself putting the surge tank near or on the exhaust side. So will continue to look at off the shelf type for the other side. i will follow up the prices on bits to suit a low budget setup.
The thought of putting one, maybe behind the battery in the engine bay or under the front guard sounds ok.
Maybe the low pressure pump under the rear and the high pressure in ther engine bay and as RAd28 said, having the return line to the surge tank.
So in theory, fuel through filter, low pressure pump to surge tank, through high pressure pump, filter, engine. Return line from fuel rail, regulator to surge tank, then for safety a return line from surge to fuel tank.
Do you wire the high pressure pump in line with the low pressure pump? As it is wired to the ECU with relays?
I know there's plenty of ways if i searched for setup's, but most people have fabricating skills or know someone to assist.

You will need a return line from the top of the surge tank to the fuel tank. (Not for safety but to make sure the fuel rail doesn't get over-pressurised because the fuel has nowhere else to go once it leaves the regulator).

Both my fuel pumps are wired to relays in parallel. Relays controlled via afm and starter (as is the case for old school efi) in your case controlled via ecu. This ensures all fuel pumps turn off when engine is off.

So my theory sounds about right, great.
so it's good to know the wiring is straight forward then, thanks 7M.............3
when i say the ECU controls mine, i mean basically that they shut down when engine off as yours 7M.......3. So maybe its the AFM etc.
    thanks gents.

It's not the cost, it's the availablity. I doubt you'll find them in dash fittings. Maybe imperial threads, but not dash.

I know that BSP and NPT fittings are quite easy to get, but have never tried to get dash fittings, as nothing I have ever bought uses them... although if they are the same as AC fittings, then you would be in luck...

Personally I would buy a unit with an easier to get fitting thread

Strictly speaking, most fluid connectors are expressed in a 'dash' size... all BSP(T&F), NPT(F), JIC, SAE, ORFS, STOR etc etc etc are expressed with a dash size. I believe the particular type your refering to are AN (speed flow brand) size...

Yes, I saw that 18R EFI kit. After all, we can all search e-Bay!

I can't belive that surfaced after I fitted an 18RG. I would have rather kept the 16R and put EFI on it. I like being different!

I'm building a 92mm bore 12.5:1 comp with a 60hp shot of nitrious 18rg for the corona so i'm looking for a MLS head gasket, I've noticed i can get them for the states but does anyone know if they can be sourced in Australia or custom made.

    Update on my 18RGU
Jets fitted are definitely 135 Main, 140 Air Corr and 65 pilots.
I dialled in a bit more static advance and it HAULS now and the flat spot has almost disappeared. It's not showing any signs of pinging either.
