hi mate, no luck my end hunting for what u were after, engine looks good so far, be a monster when u get it finished
Ok life is against me, now that I finally have my Crank angle sensor for my 1ggze (now turbo) wont fit!!!. because ive used the front engine cover from a 1ggte that I previously had in the car the c.a.s is hitting the lower thermostat housing, its just not my day, worked all day thinking I could come home get stuck in to the celica and send it off to to get tuned! DAMN IT!!!I have filed down the dizzy from the 1ggte it now slots into the hole but does not sit flush. I was thinking about using a large washer to fill out the gap but not sure if this will work, it might affect the timing or the engine might spit the dizzy out or something could go terribly wrong. I dont want to have to pull the engine out and find a whole front cover and water pipes from a 1ggze (only if its a last resort) Any information or suggestions would be greatly appriciated! I have included a couple of pics, 1 of both of the bottom of the dizzy/c.a.s, i am to believe that both the gearing on the 1ggze/1ggte cams are identicle but at the bottom of the dizzy/c.a.s look a little different? maybe this is why the dizzy isnt sitting flush?
and I couldnt resist throwing in a pic of the engine bay just for good measure!Attachment 4480

Thermo housing is hitting the c.a.s thats why (i realise now) the 1ggte thermo housing is different to the 1ggzeOriginally Posted by TheToyman75

Jordan,
The dissy drive gears don't look even remotly the same but pics can be deceiving. I would suggest you measure the gears, and how far the sit from the tip of the shaft. The base of the shaft on the CAS also appears to be allot smaller than that on the Dizzy so you sure they will interchange ??

Haha.. I completely forgot about this....
What you need in order to fit the 1GGZE Crank sensor, is a 1GGE thermostat housing section that bolts to the head.
I found this problem when i fitted mine. A GZE housing is in no way helpful to you.
will this fit the water pipes that feed around the back of the head? that was the reason when i bought the motor took the gze front cover off cause i couldnt find anyone (in time) who wanted to sell me all those pipes so I got kyle to fit the gte front cover for meOriginally Posted by Forcefed6
To make it all fit on mine, I used a 1gge thermostat housing, and heater pipes too I think. I use the 1GGTE timing cover if that is what your refering too.
If you need anymore info or pictures, I can go out and take some as it is on an engine stand now anyway.
yes pls![]()

Ok, here goes.
Firstly the pictures of mine...
Now looking at my engine, it looks as thought you only have to change the upper housing. This joins to the lower housing (via a steel tube with a rubber o-ring on each end) which is bolted to the back of the water pump. I have a twin turbo lower heater pipe, so that fits ok.
The next couple pics show the hole i had to put into a twin turbo thermostat housing in order to make it fit. I did this when I jigged my turbos up to make the manifolds so I knew what clearance I had, and it was the only way I could get the CAS to fit in the head.
Hope this heaps, and good luck![]()
Cheers! i'll have a go at cutting and welding it, if that fails i'll source a n/a thermo housing
what did you weld it with? and hows yours going did you end up going auto?
