    Default Rebuilding a 2TG

Does anyone have any rebuilding manual for the 2TG engine?
I bought one for my car but unsure if it runs so before I transplant it in my car I was thinking of rebuilding it. Any help appreciated. Also can you buy any parts for this engine from any autoparts shop or do you have to go to Toyota.

    Hi mate
I've got a manual here that you could use and also i work for toyota so let me know what you need and i'll try and find the parts for you. You should be able to find most parts from autoshops aswell.

most components you will need is there, also what head do you have?
when i bought a complete gasket kit from another auto shop it was for a 88260 head (oval timing chain inspection plate) when i needed a 88222 (rectangular timing chain inspection plate).
It was an easy fix, i got some gasket paper, traced around the outside of the plate, cut it out, pressed hard on the inside edges so that they had an in-print on the gasket paper and cut the inside out.

CraigD, is that the green 2T-G manual? if so would you consider selling it.

Keep your eyes on e-bay. Genuine 2t engine manuals pop up less frequently than 18r ones, but there is still probably one every two weeks or so. I bought one for my brother recently. In fact, there's one on there now... But don't all bid on it at once .

If you want any specific data, send me a PM and I'll send it to you. Good luck!

I just looked at the engine and the head is a 11111-88220

Is that a latter model head or early?

Sorry for the stupid question but been a mazda man most of my life, I bought this car 3 months ago and dont know much about them, slowly trying to learn.

88220 is the early heads, smaller valves intake and exhaust, different style valve cover and rectangular type timing chain inspection plate.

Woops, my bad. I assumed the 2t one had the 2tg as well. Turns out the one I bought for my brother was the T-series engine manual. After some appropriate revision of the ebay search, there is one... But it's in the US, so I guess it depends on how desperate you are.

    Alex,

If you are rebuilding your 2TG and happen to have a 3T in it now then if the budget allows it would be the perfect time to rebuild your 2TG as a Hybrid. Theres allot of info on the site about what you need to do but for the budget conscious you could just have your 3T pistons flycut to clear the 2TG valves

Good luck with it and I wouldn't be concerned about having the small valve head unless you were planning on chasing some big numbers.
