crude triggering probably, car companies spend time and effort on making things quiet, aftermarket companies wouldn;t have time to optimise for every type of injector.
can any1 suggest why the sound of my injectors has dramatically increased since the installation of a ems 8860 ecu on my 7m
even at idle they tick away like crazy - enuff to easily hear inside the car and enuff to be slightly concerned about them or the way they could have been set up correctly on the ecu??

Have you set the ohms up in the ecu ??
yeah mate - ohms are set correctly to 2.4
however ems recomend running 2.4 ohm injectors in parallel rather then using individual outputs - wether that makes any difference
on a side note - is running lean when decellerating a bad idea?? my tuner says it doent matter but u save fuel that way.... either way im not a big fan of all the popping and burbling when decellerating
running lean under deceleratoin is normal. My 4AG with microtech used to burble and pop under deceleratoin because the decel setting wasnt on, then we turned decel on so it cuts the injectors when there is no acceleration to save petrol, and stop the noises! and my injectors are noisy as hell too! I would love to be able to quieten them down a bit!
Cheers.

yep Decel rocks. I have mine set to -21hg and when it goes beyond that which is when I get off it after accelerating, injectors drop to 0. Looks quite strange on the datalog actually. No popping or shit for me?
i get a huge lean backfire when my decel function activates. Good for flames between shifts.
So is an overly large rich backfire. kapooow!

as for the original question, might have a lot with the way that some aftermarket ecu's work. Via the old Peak and Hold method, you'd get get a large click as a large voltage spike is used to open the injector, and then settles down to the output level its supposed to be at?
atleast thats how i understand it.

one upside is you can tell when you have a faulty injector. its not ticking haha if you get good enough ull be able to tell from inside the cabin
funny, i turned off decel cut on megasquirt when i got the mixtures just right...
no popping, no burbling, no hesitation when getting back on throttle...
this was MAP sensor tho..
Lance, peak and hold sends like 4amps for a short fixed time, and then lowers to 0.5-1amp (by PWM) to hold the injector open, which takes less energy than to hold it.
with MS you can set the opening time and the PWM to hold it open (iirc)

Disturbed1 - are ya still running the stock injector resistor pack on the 7m.
