that is a good guide in my eyes if those things mean nothing to you, i think you should just pay someone or ask a mate to do it for you
gday, ive now today fitted a set of EL falcon dual thermo fans into my 7mgte powered soarer. Its all bolted in nice and secure ready to be wired.
I have powered the units from the car's battery and they both spin easily and theres alot CFM in the units.
I have done a search and found witzl's guide http://toymods.net/forums/showthread...oswitch+wiring but i have to say it is well beyond meI wouldnt know the first thing about taping into the stock thermo switch (located that from the guide above) or getting power only when ignition is on, i simply dont know how to do it.
Short of paying for an autoelec to set it up for me (more than willing to pay to get the job done properly) does anyone know of any good BASIC guides to help me out?
All help appreciated, and if someone in SA is willing to wire the thermos for me, im willing to pay a decent hrly ammount ;-)

yeah im leaning towards that, specially since the car is a 7m ;-)
Install a suitable switch, use a relay and fuse and a few bits of wire. Dead easy. Just don't use one of those horrible 'adjustable' 1950's style switches!
where should i install the thermo switch to? my radiator doesnt have a suitable point in which to install the switch to.
also, for power on ignition, i assume the TSN/supra wiring diagram website will give me the info i need?
Im trying to comprehend this stuff, tis a steep learning curve for me!

So does the 7m rad have this sensor and will it be compatible to be removed and replaced with a thermo switch? The sensor in the bottom of the radiator on a hydraulic fan setup is... well.. a sensor and not a switch.
You could use a jaycar voltage switch kit with a series resistor on the rad sensor to give you an adjustable thermostat.
As an aside, many factory water temp SWITCHES are fitted in the bottom tank of the radiator, so replacing the sensor with a switch should not be a problem as long as you pick a sensible temperature.
if you have a multimeter you can test the wires in your fuse box, or the ones on the back of the key barrell and tap off that source. i hate wiring, but its really quite straightforward once you sit down and play with it.

I suck at wiring, but if you want to have a squiz at my setup to give you some clues you are welcome. It's far easier working out what the diagram says when you have a working example in front of you to compare to! I'm running pretty much the same setup, 7m-gte with EL thermofans. PM me.
Simplest place to find a power feed that's switched when the ignition is "ON" is the back of the cigarette lighter. It's generally just a matter of removing the lighter and tapping in to the connection behind. It's also a circuit that can take a bit of load - provided you don't use the lighter!!
