The 040 outflows the walbro at higher rail pressures. There is a graph around somewhere. google? I would personally go for the 040.
Hey guys, Need a new pump for the Z20 ,
wanting to know if Bosch or walbro is better ..
Apparently the 040 and GSS341 are the same spec. the only difference being the walbro is smaller in size and is cheaper ..
Anyone heard bad things about Walbro pumps in comparison to Bosch ?

I've had a Walbro for 4-5 years, never missed a beat. Everyone I personally know with a Walbro has been happy with them.
Check the specs and see if it matches your requirements - as mentioned the Bosch will outflow it in some circumstances but you might not need that much flow/pressure.

My 044 was $220 from a place on Ebay. Ford place in Sydney. 040 about $180 or so.
My Walbro was $130 off eBay a year or so ago, hasn't missed a beat. I'd buy the Bosch though as there are a lot of fake Walbros getting around. No idea if mine is fake or not, but runs fine. I think the genuine ones are a lot more noisy than the fakes from what I've been told.

Walbro here as well , the pump whine makes an interesting in car conversation starter , but its run great without hassles

There's one advantage of a Bosch - mine is completely inaudible in cabin, outside you can just slightly hear it working along with the exhaust idle, if you tuck your head under the fuel tank you can hear the whrrr a bit better.![]()
i think ill be going bosch 040.
or id start a nervous twitch from trying to shoo away the mozzies :/

my walbros have been quiet.. it all depends how you mount them.... if you bolt them in, they will whine.. if you use the supplied foam and rubber isolators, not an issue
