Be very careful saying 'corona avanti' chuck, some are irs and the disk brakes on them are no good to nobody. Find an st141 with a live axle with disk brakes, these are on non-irs avanti and some cs-x i think

NB, the Corona discs WILL NOT fit on a TA22 diff. The wheel bearings and bolt spacing are smaller than those on the Corona. The best option is to find a RA23/8 housing, which bolts into a TA22, and to which the Corona discs fit. It's been a couple of years, so I'm a little hazy, but I know it won't fit directly.

I need a working 4AGE bottom end. Pref smallport GZE, but all others considered. Also complete motors.
Drift Volvo. Was fun. 2JZ next time.
Hen, funny thing is I have a TA22 diff fitted with the Avante brakes! The early TA22's with the "D" series diff may be a different kettle of fish. But I have successfully done this brake upgrade on an RA23 as well as the TA22. They also fit the "F" series from the MKII Corona.
cheers Chuck.

Does anyone know if the vacuum advance distributor from a 5MGE will fit into a 7MGE??
I feel sorry for people who think cars are simply for getting from A to B
Thanks To postfach for the following, he found out that the 1jz and 1g-gte air con ports can be swapped.

the gearbox from a BU36 ( and possibly others. ) dyna can be fitted with the lid from an H55F. giving you a 2wd floor shift overdrive light truck box. the stick position is well forward. good for things like F100s.
so much stuff. so little time.
Can use Toyota 2M rings for 1GGTE Gen3 with ring measuments;
Compresion ring 1 = 1.5mm
Compresion ring 2 = 1.5mm
Oil RIngs = 4mm

Here is another one for this thread.
ST162 strut tops are very close to MX83...
Below is a ST162 KMAC camber top bottom ring, (upside down) showing the fit to my MX83, second photo shows the small amount of filing I had to do. Probably around 1~2mm.
Thus ST162 strut tops should* fit X83 with a minimum of filing.
* Note: standard strut tops from ST162 into X83 would probably require slightly more filing due to the larger diameter studs used compared to the KMACs. I have not personally swapped stock strut tops, only my KMACs. However PCDs and bolt spacings beween the two chassis are pretty damn close.
This probably isnt really the most useful swap out there for most people, but hey my x83 now has some nice camber thanks to my old 162.
Done a bit of research on Toyota hubs / bearings / brakes for 80s RWD cars.
According to Toyodiy, the same part number for front wheel bearings/front hubs/discs/calipers are used on:
MZ10 soarer
TA63/AA63 Carina/Corona/Celica
GX61 Cressida
So handy for finding replacements if need be.
Only applies to the struts with vented discs.
The same wheel bearings but different hub part numbers are used on:
GX71 Cressida
Townace van (Cant remember model number, but from 80s right through 90s is same bearing part number)
Some trolling through pickapart revealed that the townace hubs have the mounting face of the disc further from the strut and closer towards the mounting face of the wheel. So you can fit a thick disc to the back of the hub, with space left to mount a caliper to the strut.
I was able to use a Citreon Xantia turbo front disc with an SW20 front caliper to give a pretty decent sized front brake setup that still (barely) fits under a 15" wheel, and doesnt widen the front track at all.
Using the van hubs could also mean that there's possibly a 4 pot brakes solution that bolts to the back of the hub also, that would give more space to the spokes of the wheel without the need for spacers.
Keen to try this at some stage, as 4 pot setup is a shite load lighter than steel twin pot + bracket + spacer!
