I think Im going to do the same.

I already have the dumps, but they need cleaning up. Got myself a 3" Metalcat.

Just need the FMIC and the rest of exhaust. I think at the same time as fitting the dumps I might as well fit some steel wheel turbos. Then I can boost higher (18Pound?) at a later date.

The Soarer wont be a race car, just a compinent cruiser

if you are going to go a smaller single then that it probably isn't worth it.

people have made over 250rwkw on stock turbos (for how long is another matter). Highflowed stockers have made 255rwkw@17psi. Unsure of response.

They can make the power, but reliability is very suss. My ones went; friend ones went and took out his engine.

Yeah, I would rebuild with HF or get some T3g's. Interesting to see a boost vs rpm graph for some of these.

Just spoke to MV Autos, Looks like shift kit and std turbos is the way to go, otherwise I'm going to need a $2600 rebuild to handle the power a single is going to put out. Feel free to jump in if thats not the case, but looks like exhaust/fmic/boost is the way to go.

Anyone who does a good Ypiece/dump for the 1J?

There are a few places that make them.

Petes pipes in Dandnong, melbourne make some.

ANother guy called Lew on soarercentral.com makes some too. Everyone says his are real great but I couldnt spend that much.

Out of curiousity how much less does the Auto A340 show less power on the Dyno then the Manual??? And also how much power can the A340 handle in stock form apart from shift kit???

I don't think it is that much. Not for stock torque converter anyway. If that was the case, then I we would be seeing 265rwkw ct12a powered manual cars.

It all depends on the auto and more importantly the converter. Stock stall is probably only about 5% I reckon but once you put a hi stall of say 3500rpm, dyno numbers will be down a lot more.

MV say up to 260 or 265rwkw with just a shift kit. Without a shift kit it would be a bit less as the clutches heat up for longer periods of time on gear changes. Also, depends on if you have an oil cooler or not, how you drive it, how it has been maintained and how heavy your car is.

I have had 240rwkw and 1280kg. Doesn't get driven often but when it does it is as quickly as possible and I haven't noticed any ill effects. I have 2 oil coolers and a DIY shift kit.

    Yeah i have a 2800 stall from MV...so you think about 10%.
Will the box be getting damaged if you down shift it from time to time....I know up shifting with a shift kit makes no difference to wear and tear but downshifting???
I ask cause sometime when driving in the mountains it just not practical to have it in drive...and a little bit dangerous as its off boost a lot and the engine breaking helps.
Also its got a 1.5 shift kit in it and I prefer to shift 1st to second cause in Drive it shifts at 5500rpm and I get a stronger shift at about 6200rpm. Thanks for the info in advance???

Not sure on that one. My box is manualised so it is down shifted every time.

Suppose there could be a little more load if you downshift as it does engine brake a little but I would have thought they were made for that. As long as you aren't down shifting from say 3000rpm to 5500rpm or something like that.

I used to follow a mate in a Auto VH41DE R33 Skyline through the mountains sometimes, he actually blipped the throttle and rev matched on downchanges, was interesting to watch.

No idea if this is good or bad for the auto, but it can be done.
