    Default 1ggte compression test

did 2 compression tests on the 1g today.

one with injectors wired up (i'll call it wet) and the other w/o injectors wired up (dry)

both tests were done with throttle wide open and each cylinder was tested for 10 cycles

    pressure was measured in psi.

i got some very odd readings and would like to know if anyone has an idea of what the readings are supposed to be?

    Cyl wet dry
    1 160 170
    2 170 170
    3 160 175
    4 180 195
    5 185 195
    6 185 195

any input would be helpful thanks

    Double check them.

Make sure they dont go beyond those pressures (ie, after 10 cycles).

A wet test is usually with a teaspoon of oil, not squirts of fuel...

If they are correct readings, cyl 1, 2 & 3 are worn, nothing odd about that, its called the effects of a turbo.

If you sig is referring to this engine "the cloud machine", then isnt it exactly what you expected?

i actually suspected the problem would be valve stem seals

but worn rings was my #2

a- you do a dry test first
b- you use oil not fuel

the dry figure should be lower than the wet... so those numbers are meaningless

if you had rings going off due to lean-out, they'd first show in #1 & #6 as they're the two cyls most likely to see less airflow - paricularly if you've removed the TVIS system. And you'd see a greater difference between the dry & wet test for the cyls with issues.

i'd suggest you re-test it properly.
