Its the shifting that will break the box. Yes they can handle 300rwkw, just dont snap 2nd gear too hard.
has any1 had any experience with these gearboxs wat srt of pwr will they handle can they hold 300rwkw with considerate drving and wat can be done to upgrade them i have heard that the thrust bearing is a weak point

Power doesn't break gearboxes, torque does. A heavier car would also have an effect. What're you putting it into, and what are you putting in front of it?
Also as JCMF said, I think most gearboxes fail from abuse more than anything else.
ive hammered the poo out of mine for 12 months in a drift car...making 200rwkw and its still all good
the real test will be this year behind a solid centre clutch and 350+rwkw

it is in my jza70 behind a 1jz i am nt totally shore wat pwr out put is but it is runnong an a/f ratio of 12:1 on the equivalent of 500cc injectors at 100% duty cycle so im guess not far of 500fwhp at 23psi boost
oh yeah it has a spec stage3 clutch ,sprung center but very high clamping quite harsh 2 use cant remember exact specs at mo
IMO the clutch has a major influence on the life expectancy of a gearbox. The stock easy-to-slip full-face organic clutch absorbs a lot of torque spikes instead of sending the shock through the drivetrain and snapping things. A solid centre button clutch on the other hand has absolutely no give in it, so the gearbox cops it.
I didn't start destroying gearboxes until I installed a button clutch. Ditto for a friend who broke several R154's behind a stock 7M-GTE after he installed a solid-centre 3-puck button clutch.
Having said that, driving style has a major influence as well. Caveman shifts + button clutch = very short gearbox lifespan!

And if you keep strengthening components in your drivetrain eventually the gearbox will become the weakest link.
Something has to give somewhere.
