Just keep prying/jiggling. I guess you have the engine at least resting on the ground or something firm, so grab the box by the extension housing, and jiggle there as you have maximum leverage. Put some wood or similar under it, to prevent it damaging itself when it comes off.
Often the dowels can get really tightly jammed between the bellhousing and the engine. Also, you are prying the gearbox spline out of the clutch, and if there is any wear there, it will get tighter the further you move the gearbox off the clutch plate (i hope that made sense)
Try not to damage the gearbox bellhousing face either, as although it's no water/oil-tight seal, it does do its best to keep out water and dust.
That's my best guess, but I have only seen R154's on JZ's Hope it helps!
