Not sure but you may have to look out for Auto also.
I've read before that there seems to be 2 different types of ECU for silvertop 20v 4A-GE engines. The early type is basic at controlling the VVT and the later type was more advanced, going from throttle position aswell as revs to know when to engage.
Just wondering if it's a straight swap from early to late (the wires in the plugs the same?)?
My ECU is 175000-4622 and i've seen one for sale with the number 175000-4623. Am I right to assume this is the later type and beneficial for my car?
Cheers, Tom.

I am also interested in the answer to this question.
Just to add fuel to the fire I have an early model silvertop M/T ECU with the part number 175000-4624 (Nippon Denso Part Number).
The Toyota part number is 89661-12770.
Could you please list your Toyota part number? I never knew there were this many different revision Silvertop ECU's.
According to http://www5b.biglobe.ne.jp/~sp_cast/.../ae101ecu.html (in Japanese) the Silvertop ECU to have is 89661-1A190 (Toyota Part Number) with a higher rev limit and smoother vvt changover.

When does your engine rev-cut? I haven't actually got my 20v running right now.

AU$TRALIA... come and stay and PAY and PAY!!! The moral high horse of the world!
Mine revs to 8,200rpm and has the number 89661-12770
there ar eonly 2 types of silver ones as far as i know
auto and manual
you can repin each to work on eachothers looms but the manual one wont work the auto
and the auto one has a different 3rd plug on the ecu that powers it up
i wired one up and it had a 7800 rpm limit i tricked the ecu telling it it had a spd signal and the rev limit went to around 8500
cant see you gaining anything by changing ecu but if its cheap maybe buy it as spare
