Hey - has anyone beside Lauren thought about doing up a spec's board for their car?
BTW - Loz, you think you can get a picture of an example of those ones you got a quote on and post up for everyone to get opinions.

probably Wayno has looked into it by now too eh?

I think we should get them all done at the same place so they are uniform. But I haven't looked into it yet myself.

*note: spec boards can also be used come MV'08 time..

yes but spec boards can change very easily too, coz as soon as u upgrade one thing your specs are all out of whack..

if anyone needs it printed in A3 Colour Laser then let me know

Yeah I done a simple DIY spec board last year that turned out quite well and this year I have thought of a even better way to promote my car via spec board <devlish grin> and as my car will be on ramps I figured put it inbetween my twin exhaust setup slightly under the car so it covers up most of the underbody, dont want people to see too far under there!

Ill still be up for getting a spec board printed thou (cost permitting of course) but my idea will just top it all off <wickly devlish grin> moowhahahahaha

Ok I just tested my own Lighting FX out for the show and the car is gunna look hot, not hawt, HOT!! <Devlish Grin> Of course the convention centre lights will wash most of it out but you get that!

Is anyone running any sort of lighting? I reckon Mattys Crown and Tristans Supra should be lit accordingly! I have some flood lights from last year that I will bring along if we wish to use them red, blue or white.

I was thinking about Tristans Supra and I reckon reds with yellows or oranges would bring out the paint very nice. Mattys Crown from memory (havnt seen the paint in the daylight) would go well with a sutle white or yellow. You boys that have white cars (you know who you are) was thinking about yours and came up with nothing!

when i went in to get a quote i asked about needing to change specs and things, guy said its no drama, all it is is sticky letters on a pretty shiny board. ***ooooooh shiny**** but unfortunatley they are expensive, and cost depends on obviously amount of lettering and detail. i couldn't get a firm quote unless i take the guy a sample of what i wanted. i will probably get one done neways coz as Damo said they are re usable etc etc, and i think they look way professional. will post a pic of what they look lke on monday.

Wayno.. I can't remember what your spec board looked like last year.. can you post a picture of it?..

if would be good if we could get them kinda uniform for presentation purposes.
The only ones I can remember from last year's show was the Driven By Heels crew cos all their boards were the same and well presented, so it actually caught my eye, even tho none of their cars did..

So if we could all get them to look the same, would be better.
and I like the idea of Wayno's DIY job.. sounds cheap and easy. More people will tend to go with a spec board thats cheap and easy over one thats professionally done and expensive. Especially since like Chris said, specs will indeed change as time goes on, so if you can just knock one up yourself by the time the next show comes around

Once we have a couple of examples, we can collectively decide which is betterererer

    cheers

that just gave me an idea..

what about bringing in a LCD screen sitting on a pillar and hiding a laptop underneath (inside) the pillar.. running a fullscreen flash/powerpoint or screensaver on loop with those specs on it

    OR a Plasma

now. Paulines just shown the pricing for Perth Expohire and the Plasmas there are a tad too pricy. We would be looking at $350 a day or $650 for a 42" for 2 days. Not worth it considering you can buy a new Plasma for like 1500-2000...

however, if we can get one cheaper.. it might work then if were projecting all our specs onto the one big screen..

I might be able to get a laptop with Powerpoint and a projector borrowed from work.
I know we got it to do boardroom presentations and stuff.. but no one would be using it over the weekend..

We could even project it onto a Convention Centre wall or something.. depending on where we are actually going to set up.. won't know until the AutoSalon crew show us the floor plan
