i think youd need to measure things such as gudgeon pin height and work it out.
seeing as your swapping parts you cant be sure that 8.9:1 in a 4age will be the same in anything else
Well they should be alot better, but depending on the application as to whether you go for a 8:1 or 8.9:1 comp 4A-GZE piston...
I know your application, and being that the std 1G-GTE piston is 8.5:1 comp, I'd probably go a 8:1 comp 4A-GZE to cope with higher boost! (But, I tend to be a little more conservative than you strad!)

This is true, I don't know that the compression would be the same. I just know that a 1g has been run with 4agze pistons before, I just will never know exactly WHAT was run in that engine and exactly how it was modified. (owner was a wanker and a liar)...
And what you saying, me not conservation? Isn't bigger always better?Originally Posted by twentyEight

First question, how close are the bores? I thought they were different sizes.

Indeed, I myself if I ever decide to rebuild one of my 1G's, will be using some good condition 1GGE 9.1:1 pistons.

any good aftermarket honda D16 pistons around?
seems ppl use 1GGTE pistons with B16 rods (as pin height is lower/longer) in honda D16 motors for lower comp... (but with shorter pin height, the honduh pistons would be lower comp again in 1G perhaps...)
are 1G, 1GGTE and 1GGZE pistons the same?

Evidently the 1g-gte and 1g-gze pistons aren't exaclty the same, with gze running lower comp, or is that because the gze rod is shorter??? I don't entirely understand the concept of static compression w.r.t piston crowns and rod length/stroke.
My understanding would be that the 1gge pistons would be weaker? Just a thought...
I plan on running high boost, so whilst the higher compression would be nice, I think i'd like to stick to around 8.5:1, which is pretty well close to standard.
I tell you what, with all these f'ing options and screwing around, I'm beginning to think I'll just stick with what was suggested to me (and what has been proven to run 9.7sec) and run the std 1g-gte pistons.
This ain't no street car.
iv also seen those honda pistons used in 4ages...... b16a that is

Hi,
Indeed they are.Originally Posted by JustCallMeOrlando

Totally different, and therefore no way a 1G piston would work in a 4A, and vice versa.

Is that definately true for a 4a-gze river?
Because I do know that a 1g has run 4agze pistons before, ofcourse there is the variable that they may have been suitably machined, along with the block, but the point is they were in there.
Clearly, with those specs, it ain't gonna happen for me.
1g pistons fit a 4K..... are you sure you or your informant didnt get a little mixed up with K and A?

Hi,
Here's a link to some 4AGE specs. Mind you, the 4A all share the same bore/stroke and are all 1587cc engines.

If someone reckons they're using 4A pistons in a 1G then I think they're telling porkies.
