    Default AE86 Digital Fuel Sender

    Hey Guys,

I've got a digital dash for my AE86 and obviously the fuel gauge does not work because I still have the analogue sender.

I am of the understanding that digital senders work on voltage rather than resistance and run on 5v? Is this correct?

Does anyone know if the digital sender form a ma61 would work or what would work?

    yep,

They run on a variable voltage, the digital senders usually have a blue painted top from what I've found.

You can also make a voltage divider circuit to convert the resistance from the sender to a voltage for the dash. I made one for my chaser before I was able to source a digital sender. It was very accurate when using less than half a tank, but when the tank was full it only read up to 3/4 or a bit more as I couldn't get the components of the circuit quite right.

For the chaser the readings were:

2.8ohm full, 110.4ohm empty for analogue sender

4.6V full and 0.3V empty for digital sender.

You can use the info on this page to make your own circuit:

Did you use a 39 Ohm resistor? thats what seems to be the best shot.

it might have been 38 or 35, somewhere around that. I bought a bunch and built a test circuit.

On the chaser the digital cluster outputs 5V that goes to the fuel sender, so you can use that as your reference voltage for the circuit if the sprinter cluster has an output.
