i painted the log exhaust manifold with it as well to see how long it lastsjust hope it doesnt catch on fire
hello
some nice painted M series engines there... what do you guys do to clean the block before you apply the paint?
depends how good you want it to be in the end....
no prep with enamel and it will still be there in years to come.
a wire wheel on a drill is a good one, then get into the small corners wih a dremel and wire wheel.
normally though, i just give it a quick rub with steel wool to remove loose paint and leftover dirt after degreasing.
hello
with mine, i just sprayed on some autosol to degrease/clean it up a little and then sprayed the paint straight on. Too easy![]()

Well I ended up getting some engine enamel from bunnings on my way home from work the other day (white knight I think it was) I bought 2 cans just incase at $13 and only really needed one so I think I will try and return the second can tomorrow![]()
To prep the block, as it had just been bored and honed and the bores needed to be cleaned with soapy water anyway I decided to take the block outside on some black plastic and give it a good scrub and hose down, then hit it with some degreaser and hosed it some more it is now as clean as could be..
Will post up a pic soon.. Now just the fun part of putting it all together......
POR15 do make engine block & manifold specific paints.Originally Posted by Screamn_Sleeka
I doubt the chassis black will last too long, its not made to resist heat like the other stuff they make.
