like i said... poor tune, the cams could never be dialled in apparently. I didn't know too much about engines when I had this... I wish I hadn't sold it.

    Hey guys,

Just thought I'd ask, if I start a new thread called "Rebuilding an 18RG" would those of you who have made some of these beasts contribute your knowledge to it?

I have been searching through the posts and trying to collate all the good stuff for own rebuild, and am trying to work out the best options, ie 20r pistons, blah blah blah,

I personally am going to be using an 18R block I have sourced, and thought it would be good to have a single thread title with as much relevant info. I am a relative newb to doing a full rebuild using a different block etc.

Anyway what do you all think, some you who have posted have been playing 18rg's a fair while

I dont mind making this thread to do with rebuilds aswell if you want? I can change the heading to something like 18RG engine rebuilds and power outputs?

    Hey,

    yeah that might be better

There is already some nice little snippets of info in what some motors have in them in this thread.

Hopefully YelloRolla will spot this thread, he's in the process of building 18R-G's for Witzl and myself. It's definitely not a budget build (custom rods and pistons, ARP fasteners etc) but I'm sure most of the basics are the same.

    spotted.
Will add info as it becomes available.
Pistons look good! And we all know how important that is don't we?
    YelloRolla's KE20 1/4mi = 11.32 @ 119mph @ 22psi on slicks
    12.44 @ 113 mph on 165 wide street tyres
210rwkw - not bad for a smelly 3TGTE running pump fuel.

agreed with MrDOHC... theres fark all compression once you put in flat tops, biggest downgrade you can think of. Get a set of 12.5:1 pistons... thatll sort ya out

Ask MrDOHC, he had a set for sale a while back... they look CRAZY and would just be hypo. DONT RUN LOW OCTANE FUEL WITH THOSE PISTONS FFS
