with all of us flocking to team BHG, it was only a matter of time before they ran out of stock and had to make more, might as well improve on it!

The problem Ive seen with factory gaskets (even when torwued properly and gooed) is that high boost will still push them away from the bores due to the soft material theyre made of. The one that came out of the 7M in my silver supra hadnt blown, but it had pushed the o-rings around the water jacket openings into a funny shape and the big o-rings around the bores were decidedly eggshaped.

The goo is made by Dynatex, Its the sealer #2 product, whatever that means.

Guess they just use numbers to distinguish.

Will be hunting it down in the next few days.

I'm running standard bolts at around 68ft/lb I think. Pretty sure they are good for up to 75ft/lb, I just didn't want to push em too hard.

I think I torqued it down to just a touch over 80. Couple more ft/lb for good measure

    Ey all,

At the moment I'm running a stock gasket torqued down with ARP studs to 84ft/lbs (what ever was in the ARP guide). While installing the gasket I had the head skimmed, cleaned the block as best I could, and ensured it was flat. I also had the head tested for 'hardness' and it was fine. I used hylomar spray on the gasket...
I retorqued after first heat cycle, after 500kms not boosting at all, and after 1000kms with basically no boosting, then took it easy for another 500kms...
I'm running 9psi now and have for a while, the car has almost clocked over 8,000ks since the gasket change, touch wood its ok...
When I rebuild it, I will be putting a MHG on it...

    Cheers

    Doobs

I did mine exactly the same as yours.

ARP studs with a standard gasket.

Mine is an NA engine and I have also had no probs.

Makes you think its not the gasket but the fasteners.
