if it's come off a gear on the mainshaft you could replace it but....
teeth come off because of the chirping... the sudden shock loading temporarily overloads the teeth, starting a crack.... each time you chirp into gear, the teeth overload again and crack grows...
usually this continues until the cracks are big enough that the will continue to grow even without chirping.... and then you are fecked....
as an example, i used to flatchange my poor corolla a fair bit (a long time ago).... but then i stopped for a couple of months (trying to be a good boy
)... BUT the teeth where already cracked and one day, driving sedately (yes really), the box spat two teeth.... the cracks had been growing for a long time....
so yeah, moral of story is.. if you flatchange or chirp gears, chances are you have fucked other teeth/gears, and it's time to find one that has not had similar treatment(or time for straightcut gears or closer ratio box
)
top half is crack growth (beach marks)

ahh yep, its the chirping, 2nd and 3rd! Always say, im a bit too hard, but i cant help myself! This will teach me! Is this for any box? Would a V160 do that?
well.. if the teeth are stupidly strong, and the shock loading is not sufficient, it may not happen... but shock loading is caused by the sudden increase in load from drivetrain slop and from dropping clutch....
i think you can kill almost any box like this.. same for any diff.. enough abuse and it will die eventually..
if it's too fun to resist.. just buy more gearboxes![]()
