I'm sure it will, just cross the other fingers
Can you transfer the $140 to me? Or we can sort something else out. I'd just need to know you're definately coming so the spot is accounted for and your name's on the list.
Wheel alignment booked for tomorrow morning, got ok from work, so i guess it's on(as long as tonight's finger pulling works out).

Well, the antip00 seems all set to go, just have to organise a wheel alignment and a tune in the next two days. Oh, and flush out all the dirty old brake fluid. Easy![]()
Project megap00 - Gave up and sold up. Money tree died
GT, tried to ring you twice during the day - do you check your messages?
Where do I transfer the funds to?
Rona - 4 hours my ass - the front end is still not at the correct ride height after the third height adjustement. Luckily the rear height seemed to work out ok on the first attempt.
Immense gratitude to Paul for helping out and keeping me motivated

Okay so after hours of this:
Apparently I was to discover this: (Where the hell is the rest of my timing belt?!?)
I swear I thought it was wider, and not quite so fluffy.... (Oh there....)
So uhm.. yes... who in their right mind would change a timing belt in a 1G? (When the 1UZ is sitting right next to it...)

Maybe you were trying my old number? That phone is on, but it's in a drawer at home and i never check it unless i hear it
Current number is 0406 998 108.
Ah yes, but are you in your right mind? There's still plenty of belt there... and its not like you don't have a new engine to go in anyway...
Edit: I like the new ride height.

Having just done the timing belt on the RAV i wouldn't touch that with a barge pole MOSand you have a bizillion times the room i had in the RAV......it took an hour just to get the engine mount off the block.
Looking good, pic of car on the road please. Kinda getting inspired again

It won't be possible to put the 1UZ in by friday(though motivation is higher
)
I was looking at the photos some more.. given that I didn't notice the noise until last night, it's possible this only just started happening.. the belt is being pushed into the covers - if it genuinely only just started this belt won't last the drive down to Goulburn... chances are a bearing on a tensioner et al is stuffed coz I can't see a guide coming off a pulley without making more noise. Trying to find out if anyone has a second hand belt as I'm not keen on spending $100 on a new one to use if for less than a month...
On the positive side, the car handles beautifully even though the shocks are set at their softest setting. Oh yeah, it's not actually that low anymore - raised about 30-40 from that position, and as is it still lifts a rear wheel off the ground coming in and out of the driveway

Good to hear the suspension is all sorted.
How many k's are on the 1G? A stuffed tensioner bearing causing failure within a couple of hundred kms (ie before you get to goulburn) sounds pretty sudden for such a new car. (ie if it only just started happening and is about to go)
Interference engine? 2nd hand belt from a wreckers or so in the boot as a spare? Obviously if you think it wouldn't last the drive down you should change it before we go() but if it's got some left in it you could try your luck with a spare handy???
It'd just be a shame to see you miss wakefield after the effort and late night you and paul put in...

No one wants 1Gs... a Lexus dealer asked me if I'd sell mine but then nothing happened with it.. i guess they may have gotten one from a wrecker with warranty etc.
It's got over 130kkms... timing belt scheduled at 140. It's going to be at least some other things and I'm not sure if I'll have the time to pull it apart, diagnose and get all the parts, plus the dead investment into said parts... tensioner and idle bearings are service items at the same time, so the timing is about right, albeit unexpected..
The intention was to do the 1UZ before Dubbo, so there really is no incentive to put any sort of effort into the 1G... I still need to do the same maintenance on the 1UZ before it goes in anyway and that's where the effort should be going....
Yeah it sucks...... on the plus side, Paul, I've got time to help you with your brakes

Well, my day was busier than planned. It was supposed to be a case of getting the brake fluid flushed and bled, but ended up being a case of getting the fluid flushed and bled, then getting 15km up the road and having a caliper seize up, jacking the car up on the side of the road, forcing the piston back into the caliper and driving the 15ks back to the brake shop using only the handbrake and engine braking to have both front calipers rebuilt. Oh, I also got a wheel alignment too.
Booked in for a tune at 9am tomorrow, then the only thing to do is try and find the newly emerged short in the wiring stopping the power windows from working. Fun Fun Fun!

Meh to change height on mine I just jack the car up and wind the collar up or down and then tighten.Originally Posted by Mos
My height adjustment was easy though, wind it all the way down and it sat slightly higher then the king lows.It does help when you have a mate whos a mechanic with air tools helping though.
If in doubt power out
